Hairline crack
My FX-7 has a hairline crack near the top in line with the exposure iris button around a 1/4 inch below the top divide this is a bit of a concern as sony cams have not given me great reliability to be honest.MY FX-7 has never been dropped or treated roughly.

Got a picture of it? Could it be a molding line? It's possible you got some sort of stress fracture, but it's probably not a big deal as long as nothing's wobbling.

Q1: do you still have warranty ?
Q2: if not, why dont you try a little (!!) bit of "Quick-glue" If it is a crack, just to seal it volki |

No max its out of guarentee,if the crack widens i might try glue but it would meen only using a fraction as glue getting down in may cause bigger problems.

It's a joint/seam between the two halves of the camera body... if you take out the correct number of screws in the proper order, it MIGHT fall apart... maybe...
To quote a famous author "DON'T PANIC!" your camers is just fine and healthy! |

I've got a line like that too. I think that crack has been placed there in the factory by Sony!

It's a split-line between the two moldings on either side of the body. That's intentional!

5 out of 5 DVinfo experts agree... don't worry Martyn! I can understand though if you're not one of those inclined to take things apart <wink>!

The fact there is a moulding line on the tiny ring behind the lens hood and the fact the line i was concened with[cant believe i have not noticed it before]does not look like a built in line caused my SLIGHT concern. It must have given you all a laugh.
