Z-1 for streaming to web. at DVinfo.net

I use my Z-1 100% HDC - I never downconvert - until now. I started streaming to UStream via Wirecast. I was having bandwidth issues so I thought I would downconvert and still record HDV to tape. The problem is that when I change to the down convert and still leave record to HDV, Wirecast can't see the stream. It still shows thecamera as a DV source but won't show the stream unless I change the record to DV as well. I know I need to connect the firewire after makeing the changes but it still won't work unless I down convert the recording as well. Any ideas on how to keep the tape HDV?
