FX1 in PAL Country - Advice Requsted.
Ok, so i recently inherited an FX1 however i am in PAL country and i've been trying to sell it here so that i can get an FX1E instead - i read in another post that there is no more NTSC and PAL (its 50i and 60i) if there is no more NTSC and PAL - should i bother selling?
The perception here (outside North America) is you must use the FX1E - otherwise its no good. I almost sold it to a guy who did not appear to know the difference, but when i pointed out it was NTSC and not PAL he disappeared faster than i could blink. should i just do everything in HDV and if i need to export to PAL SD i can do that in post? I am going through the "HDV what you need to know book" and it has answered so many of my initial questions (hence have not posted here) :) but the above is something pestering me as i am limiting use of the camera right now since i feel that should rather be using the FX1E. Thanks. |

Sony discontiued HDR FX 1 at end of last year. there are probablly still some around . "should i just do everything in HDV and if i need to export to PAL SD i can do that in post?" If you watch you videos on HD TV then you are fine because HD tv plays both PAL and NTSC. I have PAL and i live in North America. I hope i answered some of your ?'s

Hi Roman,
Thanks for your reply - i was beginning to think that i was never gonna get a response from the thousands of people here :) I do already have the FX1 and i have been slowly using it more and more, since as per the HDV book - HD brings about the end of the NTSC / PAL differences with the colour space being the same and only the frame rate being different... i guess shooting DV will be less and less now days anyway - as i used the HDLink application for the first time - wow - how easy it was to get the HD onto the hard disk in .avi format! Regards, |
