FX1000 and MRC1

There's a handy spot for the MRC1 on the Z5U but how does it "attach" to the FX1000?

There's an adapter plate & shoe mount.

Functionality with MRC-1k?

I understand that the MRC-1k, attached to a Z-5 will record simultaneously (start-start) with the tape. Will it do the same with the FX-1000. Does anyone have any experiance with the MRC-1 and FX-1000 combo?

Also can the data on the SD card be played (previewed) back into the Z-5 or FX-1000?

Here's an informative link:
Sony Product Detail Page - HVRMRC1K

Yes, the cold shoe adapter that comes with the unit secures it to the Fx1000. Thanks Ken!
Yes, the recorder will record simultaneously.
"The HVR-MRC1K captures the HDV™, DVCAM™, or DV stream output from the camcorder and allows users to record HDV/DVCAM/DV files to a standard CompactFlash® solid-state memory card, while simultaneously recording to tape."
And Yes, the data can be previewed.

Thanks

Thanks for the response Brian.

I wonder If anyone reading this has the FX-1000 combined with the SD card unit and could comment on their experience with it...

Rod, it uses compact flash cards, not SD cards.

CF unit and FX1000

Hi Rod, I have just bought a FX1000 here in Australia and are also keen on the Compact Flash unit.

My understanding is that it will work via Firewire with the 1000 camera BUT WILL NOT automatically sync up with the rec/pause button on the camera.

This means you would have to manually press record on the CF unit meaning you could easily forget to pop it back in record.

mmm starting to think the Z5 may have been a better option.

I think you've nailed it Martin. The FX1000 and MRC1 will record simultaneously with the tape but not in sync. So, yes, the buttons have to be pushed separately and they don't have the automatic SYNC capabilites that the Z5 and MRC1 does.

Thanks again

Looks like the fact that it won't auto sync record with the FX-1000 makes the selection of the Z5U a no brainer...
