One more PD-170 ?
Did Sony get the audio problem fixed? Is there a serial number it stopped at?
I would think by now it would not be a problem. Anyone here bought one lately? |

A friend of mine bought a 170 about 4 months ago from B&H and it was audio problem free. I'm sure all the new ones now are OK

Right. Buying from somewhere like B&H insures new product that isn't going to have the audio issue. I bought mine in spring. No problems.

I bought mine last week at B & H. No audio problems. The problems allegedly ended with serial numbers below (as per Global DVC Website):
Sony DSR-PD170 - (NTSC) S/N from 1110001 to 1113000 Sony DSR-PD170P (PAL) – S/N from 1210001 to 1213500

I bought one recently and I haven't noticed any audio problem so far. However, there seems to be a rash of new 170s with a tape compartment latching defect. I had to send mine back for a replacement from B&H.
