The Bogen 523 Pro has the push focus feature also. It works with both my VX and my GL2.

Hey Vincent, that's kind of you to say. I only wish Varizoom had been so appreciative rather than so belligerent. I only reported what I experienced, but when a zoom controller has ruined two zoom shots at a wedding, you're quick to unplug it and never use it again.

I look forward to Mike's appraisal of his replacement Stealth and Rock. I wonder if the'll have the 'push auto' (focus) feature on them?

tom.

I have two stealths and they work very well with my xl1. However, when I try the same slow zooms with my Pd 170, I get the same result as you describe - no real slow zooms and little jerky advances when you try to do a very slow zoom in or out. Tell me what you find out and maybe I too can get a replacement which works.

Dave

Dave, if I were you I'd get onto Varizoom and ask that they replace your Stealths. The stuttery zoom on Sony cameras is well known by Varizoom, and their latest models seem to have overcome it.
