FCPro 6.0.2 update and EX
My client is now running 6.0.1, is 6.0.2 a necessary update to support EX or does EX works well with 6.0.1 too?

XDCAM codecs come with the 6.0.2 update, they'll also need the SXS driver and XDCAM transfer tool.
