EX1 clip number not incrementing?

I remember this already was discussed, but because of my being out of business recently I don't know whether it was conclusive or not - so please forgive me...

Today - for the first time ever - when exporting to mxf from the Clip Browser, I got the message that clip number "x" already exists in the destination folder (and NO, I didn't reset the clip numbering, or the camera, or anything at all in the meantime). This is just the single, last clip number being repeated.
