XDcam Browser-files not the same size

I'm copying bpav folders with the latest version of XDcam Browser, CRC check enabled. After copying when I check the properties of the BPAV folders in the card and in my MacBook Pro there is a slight difference. I tried trashing the copy and doin it again, the folder came out exactly the same -slightly different- weight. Difference is a few bytes, the lighter copy is the one in my computer, but still this annoys me. I'm shooting in Iraq so I don't have many chances to find people to ask for help.

That is the result of the media on which the files reside. That is totally normal.

This is because XDCAM Browser creates it's own BPAV folder (not using the camera's support files) and generates it's own index files and support files.

If you're really paranoid, the easiest solution is to find a file based copier with CRC check and copy the entire folder rather than use XDCAM Browser. I've had instances where XDCAM Clip Browser modified the index file on a card to have bad line breaks, and deleting a clip in camera would result in a "Restore Media" error. (but because it was only the index files, those are easily repairable) |
