Yes, the plate has a regulating circuit inside to regulate the battery voltage to constant 12V DC voltage!

But everyone knows Sony put a software lock in on that port so that it won't accept voltages higher than 12V. The camera is perfectly capable, but Sony put the lock in place to prevent use of third party batteries.

Re: PMW 300 V-Lock adapter plate

Did the V-mount battery plate end up working?

Is the restriction that Sony put on the camera only relate to the battery shoe or the power input socket as well?

Re: PMW 300 V-Lock adapter plate

That DM Accessories plate looks just the ticket!

Dave ~

Sony regulated the power input as a 12v input on the 300. The battery slot is designed to take the 14.4 volt rated BP-U series batteries. Run a V Loc plate with a regulated 12v out and Bob's your uncle. You can buy the dedicated Sony plug cables off eBay. The original EX1/3 power supplies were 12v but unlike the 300 the EX1/3 series could take a fully charged V Loc battery at 16v + via a D Tap to dedicated Sony power plug.

Hawk Woods make a dedicated PMW-300 V Loc battery plate with a regulated 12v fly lead and Sony plug. It actually mounts onto the camera via the original battery slot.

if running off a general Hawk Woods regulated D Tap plate you can use these cables.

Tilta V-Mout /Anton Bauer Battery Mount FS7 Power dc cable For Sony FS7 Camera | eBay

or just change the D Tap plug for a tip and sleeve plug that will fit many of the V Loc plates that have regulated 5v, 7.2v, and 12v outputs. There are V Loc plate kits on eBay that come with a whole range of cables such as:
