FS5 - monitor extension cable?
Does a FS5 standard monitor extension cable exist?
I would like one around 2m to use when I put my FS5 on a mini jib. I realise the wifi streaming can (in theory) do the job via a phone. But it drops frames and thus you can't always tell if your move was smooth enough.

Re: FS5 - monitor extension cable?
Why not just use a SmallHD, Atomos Ninja Blade (or whatever) and a long HDMI lead?

Re: FS5 - monitor extension cable?
Because I don't own one and figured a cable would be cheaper:-)

Re: FS5 - monitor extension cable?
OK, fair enough reason!
I think (and I stress that I'm not 100% certain) that the plugs on the end of the viewfinder cables for the Sony FS5, FS7 (and other Sony cameras such as my PMW-300) are all the same, proprietary Sony design. My FS5 and PMW-300 certainly both look the same. I'm not aware that Sony make an extension cable simply because I've never seen that mentioned on any camera forums before. It would be interesting to know if they do...but I suspect it would cost almost as much as the alternative viewfinder option I mentioned earlier - I doubt it would be cheap!

Re: FS5 - monitor extension cable?
When you hear the words "proprietary Sony cable", you can immediately assume that an HDMI cable and a new monitor would be cheaper.
But yes, an extension cable would be the obvious first desire. |
