Marketing Questions

Well, I've got a question regarding marketing.

I started a production company late last year, but I'm still working on getting up and running. I've done a few corporate/industrial videos for a couple of manufacturers in town, and they were extremely satisfied with my work. I put together a demo reel which has also gotten some great feedback. All in all, the folks who have worked with me seem to be very satisfied.

The problem I've run into is how to get people to work with me. Most everyone around here goes straight to the other production company in town--they've been around for about 4 years, so they're pretty well known.

I guess my big question is--how do most new companies go around marketing? How do you get clients? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sigh.....

1. Do a search here, lots of great info.
2. Join a Chamber of COmmerce in your market area and GO TO EVERY MEETING and network.
3. Get a local paper every day, contact every prospect you see there.
4. Do some free work for a local NPO that gets you some visibility and contacts.

Marketing is not rocket science, you just have to contact some people every day. Every day. Every day.

Eric, I'm pretty sure we've had more than a few good discussions on marketing different ways in this section of the forum. If you haven't done a search on past topics, I guarantee you, you will find some good stuff if you do.
