Seattle checking in.

Howdy Folks,

I recently joined the board after finding it. In putting together my new DV package I did as much research as I could. I have already been rewarded here with great info on mics. An area that is new to me.

I am currently shooting Paranormal Videos, in association with a ghost hunters group I belong to - A.G.H.O.S.T. in the Seattle area. (http://www.theresaghost.com).

I have completed three shorts. "Real" scary movies as I like to call them, because they are true documentaries, with authentic paranormal images.

I am using my Canon XL1s for most of the shoots, but I rely upon my Sony TRV-17 for the amazing infrared images I have captured. I currently have extensive paranomral footage in my library.

I just got back from an investigation of a private residence. I have amazing "orb" shots. Several of which were caught with simultaneous camera setups.

These will be posted soon on the A.G.H.O.S.T. web site.

I am expanding my work beyond paranomral, but it holds a great deal of interest for me. I love to tell a stroy - truth or fiction.

Any other Seattle filmmakers out there? I'd love to hang out and create a network of passionate filmmakers. Sharing ideas and techniques.

Regards,
J. Cody Lucido

Welcome Codeman3D!

Well I think you're the first person I've seen here, or elsewhere, using your cams for paranormal research (although many people have claimed to have paranormal experiences with their XL1's.) Fascinating! The closest I've come to seeing weird things with one of my cams lately was discovering that I can see the remote control's infrared beam while looking through my cam's viewfinder.

Well, I'm not sure we'll be much help if your XL1s gets gooped with ectoplasm but I, for one, will sure enjoy hearing more about your work.

Welcome!

Well, I just posted some of my "Orb" video on our ghost site. you can download them at :
http://a-g-h-o-s-t.tripod.com/videoandevps/id1.html

These were all shot with the Sony TRV-17 in nightshot mode. I capture most of my best paranormal imagery with the infrared on this camera.

These are what we call "orbs". Nobody really knows what they are, but they seem to really mass around paranomral locations. Some people believe that they are energy released by spirits, but if you watch them they seem to have a mind of their own. Usually you get a high spike in the EMF detectors and a sudden drop in temperature when these little guys are around.

I wish I could get an infrared lens for my XL1s.

Codeman3D,

Your hand and orb video is kinda fun and creepy...I think mainly because of the sound of your reactions that's recorded. Gotta admit I'm still a dyed-in-the-wool skeptic, but thanks for letting us take a peek at them!

Just an FYI, I had to add 4GB more traffic allowance to the site. Got whacked with downloads. Should be fixed in a couple of hours.

Are you familiar with this link from my XL1 Feature Filmmakers page in the Resources section of the Watchdog? I had thought I remembered something about Seattle being a hotbed of paranormal activity.

I tried to follow it in the past, but it came up "page not found". This link worked, however. Thanks for the heads up. I sent them an email. I'd love to hook up with other like minded filmmakers in this area (or any area for that fact.)

Until the bandwidth issue is fixed, if anyone is interested, this is the group I have worked with.

Hi Cody,

Got in...the site looks good! Interesting stuff and nicely laid out. I'd really like to see the Mammoth Cave and Alice videos. I'm especially interested in hearing what kind of response you'll get from your offer to team up with others and shoot. I've been considering doing that myself. Could you let us know later what kind of suggestions you get?

Not to nit-pick...just to give you a heads up...the top left image link on "Films 1" is broken, and two of the images on artwork page after clicking the "Enter" link are broken. Otherwise, looks good.

Thanks for letting us know about it.

I will be happy to let you know how it goes. I am anxious to meet other filmmakers also.

As far as the images go, those links arent broken, it is still server issues from ATTBI. They tell ne they are working on it and should have it fixed by the end of the week (crossing my fingers)
