Does this version have a love song for a rat sung by Michael Jackson?

Yes. And it's totally unexpected. This Willard reminded me of the darkness in those Vancouver shot X-files. The ending is lame, though (the last 10 minutes or so). Oh, you'll like the beginning. Willard's mother looks kind of like mama from the movie, "Throw Mama from the Train," but older, uglier and creepier. (The rats get her---scares her so bad that she falls and dies) You should see how those rats chew up up things! (They chew up car tires like nothing.) And good old Ben, the largest of them all, eats a poor cat.

I absolutely loved Ben, and Willard was pretty good too. Please tell me this isn't another movie redone, just because someone felt they could make it better with special effects and big names?
I have been so dissappointed over the past few years. Too many un-creative people ripping off a decent title, and trashing the story for the sake of special effects. I just saw Time Machine last night, and thought it was very well done, and kept with H.G. Wells' story. |

Yes, it's a re-make! But it's different than the original. It's very dark, slow and creepy, and keeps building up! The 2 main actors do a fine job (Willard and his boss). Just the ending is a bit lame. It's suggested that there will be a Willard 2.

I was mildly disappointed by Willard after all the hype. Many potentially dramatic or suspenseful situations were squandered for no good reason, many relationships and character moments initiated but not paid off. Also, I think the film suffered in the editing room. Some evidence of this are the several lines that appeared in the trailer that didn't make it to the final movie. (Don't you hate when they do that?!)
