Anyone used this tripod?

http://www.tiffen.com/tripods.htm
I was looking through Tiffen's page and found the one on the bottom of this page. I've never heard of it before. I'm not really looking at buying it, just wondering how good it can be for $299.

Not sure about the cost thing. I purchased Sony VCT-870's for my VX-2000's for $139 each, and, maybe it's not saying much, but, they have lanc controls, and are better than anything I've used to date. NOTE: I have not spent the money for Bogens and such. I'm only saying that these are more than adequate for a good price.

message to Harry

I too have a vx-2000 and the same tripod.
Although it is not the most stable fully extended, it meets my needs so far.

It says it's good up to 18lbs. I'm wondering how it compares to something in the same category as a Bogen/Manfrotto 503 head and 351 legs.

Ah, Davis & Sanford. They have produced tripods for years. They were known as an alternative to Bogen in the still market. They were purchased by Tiffen a few years ago and haven’t been marketed much. I think Chris mentioned seeing one at a trade show and not being impressed by it. I would say it’s a typical low end video tripod and probably not a true fluid head, but rather a friction head.
