Current Opinions on Apple Cinema Displays and Cinema HD Displays?

I'm interested in getting some current opinions on using the Apple Cinema display (in my case, the 27") as well as the older Apple Cinema HD display (30") for video editing...

Do you generally find these to be excellent monitors for video editing?

Where/how do you set brightness for your monitor? (Or do you use external calibration/adjustment hardware?)

Are there any significant issues/flaws with these displays for video editing?

Do you think the Apple displays are superior to similarly-priced non-Apple displays?

Do you think there are far less expensive non-Apple displays that are just as good?

Thanks!
Scott

PS - A related question: is the 27" iMac display basically identical to the 27" standalone Cinema display?
