problem with vegas upgrade

i bought vegas 8.a off ebay last year at a good price, but it was for just the cd sealed in the white envelope with the product key etc on the back.

it all works fine but when i try to install 8.b and enter my serial it restarts the program and tells me i have 14 days trial left, ive tried a few times and the same thing happens every time which leads me to think i may have bought a pirated copy or an i doing something wrong?

the cd and envelope look genuine with the bar code etc on the back but this problem is making me wonder

what do you guys think?

Sounds like a dodgy copy.

Paul.

Installing 8.0b on top of 8.0a should NOT ask for a serial number again. That leads me to believe you may have purchased a "cracked" key.

Yep, Sony 8.0a on a CD disk with the serial outside seems marginal to me. Especially considering it's coming from eBay.

Your best bet at this point is probably to wait until Sony 9 comes out and hope your "cracked" serial number for 8.0a works for the upgrade which is usually very reasonably priced at about $200.
