quick question, why did sonic foundry sell vegas4 to sony? was it only $? that'd be kinda shortsighted.

It was survival. The sale to Sony erased, in effect, substantial debt while leaving Sonic with a viable business. Without the sale, SF's future was in doubt.

So Sonic stays in business and Vegas survives in other colors. Hard to argue with the outcome.
