I am also very much interested in Obin's Camera. But let's get back to James's Micro 35 please.

Weekend Update:

Got the OCT19 Mount Finished...

Check it out:

Here's a pdf of the final "Pre-Assembled" rails. It's shown with the OCT19 mount. It looks small in the picture but the mount is actually 4" in diameter.

Doing the OCT19 mount has proven to be huge step forward. It allowed me to fit the micro35 with a real matte box and follow focus unit. So I ended up having to design this rail system.

I've gotten plenty of requests for the software monitor, so it looks like its a go.

The stills look good, James. The 3D model link led to a "Page Cannot Be Found" message.

James Hurd February 14th, 2005 12:32 AM

Try now. I zipped it.

Added the .pdf too.

John Sandel February 14th, 2005 01:56 AM

Both links work fine now. The 3D model is well done.

When I unzipped the .exe file, I couldn't run it on my G4 Mac. What am I missing?

quick question...
I have a canon L2, the quality is pretty decent..but im thinking about getting a dvx100a. This adapter is a must.
do i really need a top of the line camera if im gonna use the adapter? 3k is a lot of money for me to dish out. plus i have a lens for the canon with a built in macro that is super powerful.
-so should i get the dvx for use with this system or will it be overkill? will it give me the same output when used with the adapter?

James Hurd February 14th, 2005 09:48 AM

The DVX is awesome. You won't always use an adapter....

John Sandel February 14th, 2005 10:54 AM

What am I missing?

Ha! ...

I meant what's the content of the file? James?

James Hurd February 15th, 2005 11:48 PM

Hey guys,

I finished machining the first set of rails. I'll have the base powder coated this weekend.

The base is adjustable for different cameras.

The nice thing about this setup is that you can use it without a micro35...

Almost there!!

John Sandel February 16th, 2005 01:04 AM

James, what do you think an assembled Micro35 rig will weigh?

Rob LaPoint February 16th, 2005 05:34 AM

Hey James the new rail system is looking really good. I am just wondering if this is affecting the shipment of the micro 35 guides, or are you still just waiting on the printer to get them done? Keep up the great work man!
