Mike Eby September 26th, 2003, 03:18 PM My HD1 power supply died. Has anyone had any experience with the aftermarket chargers that Bestbuy sell? I was thinking about a spare so I could charge 2 batteries at one time anyway and I could use it until I got a replacement from JVC. One unit they had at Bestbuy will charge from a car cigarette lighter, this seemed like it might be handy.

Steve Nunez September 27th, 2003, 05:44 PM B&H now has these for $2399.......at over 700 lines of res, why don't we hear more about this seemingly awesome cameras?
Frank Granovski September 27th, 2003, 06:20 PM ...at over 700 lines of res.MiniDV has a maximum horizontal playback of 540 lines.
For that price, it is a good buy. It's video quality, I keep hearing, is very good. Keep in mind that the lens hood cannot be removed.
For more info about this cam, use the search function on this site.
Mike Eby September 28th, 2003, 01:58 PM Picked one up at BB yesterday for $49 (ouch for what it is). Works great now I am back in business and I can charge batteries on the road.
Mike
Yik Kuen September 28th, 2003, 10:51 PM I like the quality of this cam. I use it for Wedding. It's exceptional highlight handling is superb. It's one of the very rare cam in this price range that can truly resolves 700 lines of resolution.
The unremovable lens hood is not a problem to me. I can still attach a Canon WD58 wide angle lens (with a 52 to 58mm conversion ring) with an additional hood that comes with it.
I don't use the streaming function and it's my main cam for most of my wedding events.
I strongly suggest that you try this cam and judge its video quality, comparing with the rests. I've even come across that a professional videographer commented the quality is close to some 1/2" chipper!
Cons: Moderate battery life and "plastic" feel.
Steven Galvano September 29th, 2003, 04:29 PM In my experience the Autofocus is either snail slow - or it doesnt work at all
Is this normal?
How have you guys been dealing with it?

Steve Mullen September 29th, 2003, 08:33 PM Give it 2-3 seconds. :)
T. Patrick Murray September 29th, 2003, 09:53 PM Hi there- sorry for the basic question, but I gotta ask before I buy-
Is the 100 buck editing package
include the shooting guide and the edititng plug in- or are they sold seperately?
I have a Mac, Final Cut Pro 4 and a need to edit my footage.
What do I need, Steve?
I am ready to buy, and I have many friends who want my review of it-
am I psyched to get it and cut my shots!

Matthew Phillips September 29th, 2003, 10:29 PM What is the latitude on the JVC JY-HD10U?
Matt
Steve Mullen September 29th, 2003, 11:09 PM You can buy the "4HDV Shooting Guide" by itself. Those who have PCs can get this.
Or, you can buy the whole "4HDV Bundle" which includes the Shooting Guide and Production Guide plus HDVbridge and HDVviaduct plug-ins.
Head to my website to order.
Daniel Moloko September 30th, 2003, 04:53 PM guys, u got to help me!!
ive bought the JVC-JYHD10 this week...
when i opened the bag, i couldnt find the CD-ROM installation for the MPEG EDIT program that usually comes with the camcorder.
the friend of mine who bought it to me just trashed the CD-ROM within the box of the camcorder!!!!! ahrgg
I cant find the software anywhere, not even in the jvc site...
only you can help me with it! someone can send it to somewhere so i get it? someone can make a copy of it as a image cd?
i really need to see this program working, as is the only way to get the footage inside the computer!!!
thanks
ciao
Heath McKnight September 30th, 2003, 04:58 PM You may want to call JVC and explain what happened. Have you registered the camera yet? That will help to make sure you actually own the camera, which means JVC will likely send you a new copy of the software. I don't know if they'll charge you or not for a new copy, like 20 bucks or something.
heath
Daniel Moloko September 30th, 2003, 05:10 PM ive tried to get in touch with jvc
but im BRAZILIAN, from the Northeast...there aint no such thing as a assistant tecnic here...
the only way to get it is over the internet world, or else i will wait 6 months for it.
thanks

Matthew Phillips October 1st, 2003, 02:06 PM I was doing some research and I found the latitude of HD
"HD has less latitude than film I call it 4.5 Under and 1.5 Over."
B. Sean Fairburn SOC
HD Cinematographer & Consultant
I hope this helps you guys out.
Barry Green October 1st, 2003, 05:59 PM That may be for HD in general (i.e., VariCam, CineAlta, etc) but I'm fairly sure it won't directly apply to the HD10. Someone should shoot a grayscale chart and look at it on a waveform monitor so we can know the answer.
Steve Mullen October 8th, 2003, 01:43 PM * Blue (the AO) the disk was origin of a word, as for to the AOD " the " " HD DVD "
First, furthermore Yamada of the Toshiba digital media network corporation head skill watch the will person explained the system summary of the HD DVD.
Yamada " of the AOD " propelled " until now with name, but therefore as for this with the company internal development name, the blue which used the blue laser (the AO) the disk you be able to call the AOD. " It keeps propelling from now on as the HD DVD " ", it quarried out.
In addition, " you say it tries to be able to handle video / audio / the data et cetera with one disk, goal of DVD start-up beginning is achieved rather, thinks the disk most succeeding until now ", it did.
In addition, " of manufacturing technology keyword of the optimum design, " progress of display " and " LSI/MPEG-2 " which thought " " Hollywood participation " and et cetera was listed concerning the reason of success of the DVD. You say the HD DVD is located as the standard which continues the success of the DVD such as that.
After that, such as maintenance of rear compatibility and guaranty of production margin, application of existing equipment and reduction of the necessary capacity with the adoption of the up-to-date codec the theme of the HD DVD it introduces. Presently 1 layer 15GB, the ROM of 2 layer 30GB is prepared, but because 1 layer or 2 layer almost do not change cost, you say you think of 2 layer as standard. In addition, while rewriting and the ARW of type (the Advanced ReWritable), while assuring the compatibility maintenance of the ROM, actualizing the increase of capacity, filling up the specifications which such as random access to the PC and ???????????? are required, you speak it corresponded to also AV use.
Summary of AOD technology
MPEG-2 and H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC) with comparison
In order to be able to do the mass production which utilizes the existing equipment of the DVD, besides the fact that production margin is guaranteed, you adopt the H.264 as a codec. By comparison with the MPEG-2 of DVD video, you say it can assure compression 1/2 - 1/3 at capacity. With the adoption of the H.264, you say 90% of the existing movies can be covered, we assumed " 132 minutes ", with full HD resolution at bit rate of 6 - the 15mbps it becomes recording possible.
In addition, you explain property of the DVD can be utilized in development and mass production equipment of the disk and drive. However, has become theme of the next generation you say under present conditions it is difficult concerning the production of the encoder.
* Production of drive for the note PC relative the easy HD DVD
NEC it is quick Tsu Akikazu
Consequently, the NEC Corporation first storage division generalization manager Tsu Akikazu does the Noboru platform quickly, " in the next generation optical disk, 2 types (the AOD/ blue ray) is, but also NEC developed at one time, the 0.1mm (the BD) the /0.6mm (the AOD) parallel. There was argument of the ? ? ? ? even inside the company, but you said it standardized to the 0.6mm ".
In addition, " the HD movie (the High Difinition) the /HD data (the High Density)" with it does the theme of the next generation optical disk, " the common specification which is accepted to CE/AV industry and IT/PC industry explains charm of the HD DVD ". Furthermore utilization with the desktop / note PC and, the full compatible of the former CD/DVD, standardized data structure with the ROM/RW/R, the merit such as drive at cost / disk production was increased low, you say the AOD was chosen from these viewpoints.
In addition, for the note PC it made the merit with the adoption of 3 system full compatible optical head which shares thing and the CD/DVD and the head whose excessive resistance swing structure is unnecessary, that compilation of drive is easy and the like.
Basic policy of HD DVD
Actualization condition of drive for note PC
* As for application format expansion of current DVD
As for Yuji the Sato of Toshiba digital media network corporation core technology center optical disk development department department manager, demand it is many with support and AV system of the defect management whose demand is many with PC/IT system concerning the standard of the HD DVD, you explained high format efficiency, concerning the merit of seamless playback and the copy protection et cetera.
Concerning the application format, you say with expansion of the current DVD, the current DVD player / the operativity which is similar to the video recording re-gray fabric is actualized even with the HD picture. In addition, you say it examines also the WMV9, in addition to the MPEG-4 AVC concerning the animated picture compressed codec.
The Noboru platform it did lastly, Masato the Otsuka of corporation technical generalization attaching new media development charge Department Manager memory TEX explains concerning the mass production technology of the HD DVD. At the same company approximately 1 year applying the development which is directed to the mass production of the HD DVD of 2 layer record, it did, but you say almost mass producible stage you verified technically.
At the same company, the formatter of the HD DVD, being joint with the partner, it develops the disk production process and appraisal machine and the BCA inscriber et cetera. The many of them, were correspondence possible with improvement of the former DVD production device.
With the formatter, it corresponds with other than and power control mounting et cetera HD DVD irregularity correspondence. With disk production process, with LBR for DVD of mastering process, execution such as improvement of optical system. With formation process, you say it corresponded with thickness, eccentricity and mounting et cetera of curvature control whose, precision is higher. As a result, both 1 layer 15GB/2 layer 30GB, the current material, equipment and process (somewhat improvement) with mass production possibility it could prove the HD DVD.
As for production cost at early stage of 2004 year - 2005 years, 15% rise it expects vis-a-vis the current DVD. You say it overtakes the cost which is equal to the DVD in several years.
Marc Young October 10th, 2003, 09:54 PM During the next year, I'd like to do exterior videography of buildings and other structures. As you are well aware, modern building are a matrix of glass and steel, with many straight as well as curved lines. All the preliminary photography with SD dv cameras is making me dizzy with aliasing effects (like jagged lines) and weird looking patterns. This is with a Sony PD-150 at beyond 10x zoom, using a tripod and image stabilization off.
What will the HD10 buy me in terms of avoiding some of these problems? Who has done panning shots of buildings, and steadicam walk-arounds? Will I be shocked by visual anomalies when the video is played back on a 65" HD display or projected with a dlp? Are accesories like a screw-on 2X lens worth it to keep the jvc in optical zoom as long as possible?
Chris Hurd October 11th, 2003, 08:35 AM I would think that for architectural videography you'd need a good wide-angle adapter... wouldn't you?
Eric Bilodeau October 11th, 2003, 06:06 PM I totally agree with Chris, this camera is anything but wide. For the SD aliasing effect, you should try working in progressive mode (with a camera supporting it of course!), it is much better than interlaced.
Lisa Lee October 13th, 2003, 02:53 AM Our camera was missing 2 pixels as well. But like you said B&H is great for their exchange policy. Besides they are just sending them back to JVC anyways. My guess is that 6 months from now we are all going to be whining about dead pixels with this cam
Marc Stayman October 13th, 2003, 02:44 PM I am guessing that the previous post was orginally in Japanese and poorly translated. I can't read it, it's not English.
Bob England October 13th, 2003, 03:00 PM Looks like babelfish to me!
Heath McKnight October 23rd, 2003, 10:49 PM I'm about halfway through the article, and so far, they kind of skimp on the real lack of manual controls, though they do admit it has both pro and amateurish features (amateurish, they say, being some of the shooting styles, like black and white, etc.).
Then I noticed the cover is the same photo of the L.A. DP with the HD10 as that JVC Roadshow I posted up a few days ago. And Videography is a sponsor. Coincidence? The review seems to be more like a preview, but it is a two-parter, part two covering editing.
This may just be a kiss-@$$ session for JVC, and this IS a freebie magazine...
I bet we can find the review online at videography.com...
I'll read the rest and post my thoughts. Hope this isn't a BS review.
Also, in an annual MovieMaker special, the magazine has an ad for an L.A.-based rental house with big lens-equipped mini-dv cameras. Without a big lens, but displayed prominently, is the HD10. That's a good sign, because that means rental houses are taking it seriously. The house is Hollywood Studio Rentals, Inc. www.hollywoodstudiorentals.com
More soon,
heath
ps-Feeling better about this camera.
Steven Galvano October 27th, 2003, 11:04 AM I have been totally out of touch for the whole month of October. I have been all over the continent of Africa shooting a documentary. I'm here at the Nairobi airport finally able to connect to my email and DVinfo. BTW -I shot 73 hours of footage with the HD10 over here and will share details soon.
I was hoping that by time I returned there would be some sort of breakthough -- wow.
So whats the deal? Can I use my G4 DP 1gig? Will all I need is Panther?
Thanks!!
Heath McKnight October 27th, 2003, 07:37 PM Probably, yeah. I'm anxiously awaiting my up-to-date copy of Panther to try it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lynne Whelden October 31st, 2003, 08:54 PM The latest issue of TV Technology (10/29/03)has a lengthy review of the camera. He liked it so much he even used it to capture audio only! He also used it to provide B roll footage for a major production and found it held up well with Betacam footage as well as 3 chip DV cameras. He concludes by saying "the HD10U can be a very dependable tool for a wide range of applications today...I see this camera moving easily among shoots of special events, corporate and retail applications and even broadcast."
Peter Robert November 2nd, 2003, 09:39 PM I encode a 720p footage shot by JVC HD1 as wm9 file by the template of 720p in Vegas. When I play back the wm9 file in my 32" monitor, the video does not fill the full screen. Is it normal?
I tend to put the wm9 file in one DVD disc. What is the bitrate that produces the best video quailty and the file size is OK to a DVD disc?
Troy Lamont November 2nd, 2003, 09:55 PM Peter,
Is your 32" a widescreen HD set? If it's a 4:3 set, then no it won't fill up your entire screen, you'd have black bars at the top and bottom of the image. If it's a 16:9 set, then make sure you have WMP set at "Full Screen" and it should work no problem.
You can get to full screen right clicking on the WMP screen when the clip is playing and clicking on "Full Screen" or just typing ALT+ENTER.
Troy
Eric Bilodeau November 3rd, 2003, 07:55 AM Well well, it seems (at last) some people are overcoming their prejudices and fear of the beast. I am sure that he acceptance of HDV as a standard will be faster than it was for DV.
Frederic Lumiere November 4th, 2003, 04:44 PM This is a call for reviews on HDVCinema.
If you have purchased and are currently using HDVCinema previously known as 4HDV, please post your honest review here. Everyone would much appreciate it.
Thank you!
Steven Galvano November 6th, 2003, 10:05 AM Seems like the final minute of material on each tape has heavy artifacting. It is not 100% constant though (some much worst than others).
I dont remember ever reading of this being a problem.
Any insight??
Steven Galvano
Erik Rangel November 6th, 2003, 10:13 AM I too have noticed this... at the beginning also.
I'm using jvc mini dv tapes and kinda figured that I needed to pack the tape first. I haven't tried it yet though. I didn't want to burn my cameras motors fast forwarding and rewinding each tape before i used it.
Next time I'm gonna try TDK or Sony dv tapes.
E.
Jeff Donald November 6th, 2003, 10:48 AM The first few minutes and last few minutes of tape are statistically more likely to have dropouts and other anomalies than the rest of the tape. I record bars for the first minute or so and try to never record anything important on the last minute or two. If I am shooting a critical scene and the tape comes to an end, I always reshoot the last minute or two to be safe.
Mike Pershing November 6th, 2003, 08:57 PM I am noticing a short drop-out in the audio at each scene change when I play back recordings in HD mode taken with my GR-HD1U. I timed the silent period to be about .88 sec before the audio starts up at every new scene. The video plays back normally. I've read a lot of reviews and boards both before and after buying the camera and don't recall anyone reporting this phenomenon. Is anyone else experiencing these audio drop-outs, or do I have a defective unit? (If you are NOT experiencing the audio glitch, I'd like to hear feedback about that, too.)
thanks,
Mike

Call JVC on this one; I can't remember if my HD10 did it, because I did a lot of work in DV for my documentary about my movie. The rest of the doc was shot on an XL-1, hence the DV mode.

Raymond Krystof November 7th, 2003, 02:39 PM Mike,
This is a known idiosyncrasy with both the HD1 and HD10. I posted it some time ago on this forum. It doesn’t seem to get much negative critique since most people edit all scenes. Just have to account for it recording.
Mike Pershing November 7th, 2003, 05:30 PM Thanks, Raymond. I had intended to also search DV Info Net on this, but then forgot after I signed up. Nobody ever confirmed this anomally on any of the other boards I posted to. I'm still researching the various potential Mac editing solutions before I can do any editing, though.

Christopher C. Murphy November 9th, 2003, 03:35 PM One of our good buddies has created a great forum for HDV while we tried to figure out if we needed one here -
http://www.lumieremedia.com/hdv/
It's got sub-forums for lots of topics and I'm sure he'll create whatever we ask for without a problem.

Troy Lamont November 13th, 2003, 03:09 PM I was looking at the Marine Pack and noted that it didn't mention control of digital stills from the housing so I referenced the HD10 manual. The manual stated that when you snap a pic during HD video mode, it saves it to the memory card as well as long as you've set that option up in the menu settings.
Can anyone verify if you can do this while in REC PAUSE?
That would make the marine pack a more viable option because you wouldn't have to worry about switching the selector to picture mode to snap an underwater pic.
If it can only record to memory while you are actually recording, no biggie...
Anyone taking digital stills with this unit?
Thanks.
Troy
Future HD10 owner in waiting! :)
Steven Galvano November 15th, 2003, 11:04 AM Will the JVC capture app work under win2000?
It says XP only, but may xp only apps work under 2k
thanks!

Troy Lamont November 17th, 2003, 10:10 AM Never mind. I found the answer....
Heath McKnight November 19th, 2003, 05:49 PM Chris Hurd and the wranglers have showed the way. When putting down an http://www.websitename.com, it doesn't automatically become "hyper linked." Here's what you do:
Make this--
[ url ] http://www.anywhere.com [ /url ]
But make sure there are NO spaces, like I put up there, between any of the letters. I had to do that because it automatically hyperlinks if I don't put spaces between [ and url, etc.
Please do this, so others can simply click on the link.
THANKS!

David Gomez November 22nd, 2003, 01:08 PM Preferably a greater than 1.6X magnification....
Minimal Vignetting, clean image, under $500?
Any suggestions?
Thanks
David
Geoff Pepos November 22nd, 2003, 07:35 PM Century Optics http://www.centuryoptics.com are the cleanest lenses I've tried. They make a 2X (I've heard this is what ESPN uses) with a 58mm thread so you just use a 58 to 52mm converter. At the widest setting of the JVC there is some vignetting so ya just go in a bit. It lists for $495. They also make a great .65 (no vignetting even at the widest setting) for the same list price.
Christopher C. Murphy November 27th, 2003, 06:18 AM Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
I'd like to get an updated list of accessories that people here recommend. It's the Holiday season and I'm sure we're all asking the Mrs. (or Mr.?) to buy us some toys.
Please post your recommendations (copy the list before you hit "reply", so you can answer the questions easily) on equipment mainly related to the JVC HD camera only. Also, please try and keep it to what you actually use and not what you've heard sounds good. It should be first person useage!

Tripods?
I really like my Vinten Vision 3. I have tried others in the same $1500 price range, but they didn't compare
Preferred Tape Stock?
I have been using Panasonic Pro tapes (M-DV60PRO) but I have heard that Panasonic MQ tapes are the best and once I finish off the 30 JVC tapes I have left I will switch. B&H has good prices on both.
Extra Batteries?
This place makes a mount for using matte box with the camera, but also a power supply that uses standard 4 pin XLR power input, so you can use a battery belt. http://www.digitalproduction.info/hd10uMatteBox.htm
Lenses and Filters?
ND FIlters! ND Filters! ND FIlters!I am also thinking about playing with some anamorphic adapters on the HD10U to get a 2.35:1 image. I have seen awebsite where a guy talked about doing this with standard DV and the images looked good. Sounded like a 16:9 anamorphic adatper on top of a 16:9 image gave you basically a 2.35:1 image. The big problem then become how best to project it since 30p to film is questionable and 2.35:1 on an SD TV isn't the best.
Shotgun Mic and boom poles?
I have been very happy with my Azden SMG-2X shotgun. I have a paintbrush holder that I have screwed my Azden shockmount to and then attach that to a 16' painters pole for a boom. $30 for a 16' boom isn't bad. My sound guy says it is too heavy, but it works.
Wireless Mics (lavs, handheld)?
I am still looking here. Got a set of AudioTechna lavs from B&H, but I didn't like the sound, so I returned them.
Preferred Audio capturing equipement (like a DAT, ProTools etc.)?
I just capture to the camera. Is it not good to capture to the HD10U? Does the MPEG mess up the audio?
Travel Cases?
Good question?
Cleaning Materials for Lenses?
Do people use somehting other than basic still camera cleaning supplies?
Matte Boxes?
I have a CAvision mattebox and follow focus and it is pretty nice. Much less $ than other options. I am looking at getting the HD10U adapter from CAvision or the HD10U universal mount from http://www.digitalproduction.info/hd10uMatteBox.htm. The universal mount also have a wireless video feed, which I think will speed up set-ups. I always use a monitor.
Video Editing Software preferred (both PC and Mac solutions)?
I am using Vegas to convert t2s files to quicktime.
Audio Editing Software preferred? (both PC and Mac)?
Good question?
Lighting Kits (or specific lights used)?
I have a Lowel DP Remote light kit with 3 1K tungsten lights. I have 500 watt bulds also. I need to get a couple soft chimera (sp?) style lights.
Stedicam or similar products?
I am looking for something like this!
Extreme conditions products (like underwater gear)?
Interesting. Underwater housing would be cool!
Video and Audio Cables preferred?
Good Question?
Memory sticks?
Good Question?
Misc and "must have" gear?
I only shoot indie films, so a field mixer is a requirment for me. I had an Azden FMX-2 and wasn't happy with it. I now have a Sound Devices 302 and it is awesome. The Shure mixers are realy good too. A good field monitor is also a must have. Right now I only use a portable TV, but I need to get a real field monitor.
Louis Grimaldo December 12th, 2003, 10:33 PM I just caught the last 15 minutes of the Alan Cumming show on the Oxygen channel. There is an interview Alan Cumming is conducting with Liv Tyler at an amusement park where the highlights were blown and there were times when you could see the exposure changing to compensate for the change in lighting. And although there was a problem with the lighting some of the video looked very filmlike. I could have sworn I saw a glimpse of the HD10u during the interview but i am not sure.
Heath McKnight December 14th, 2003, 10:59 PM On quick glance, esp. when it's seen from the front view, it looks like a lot of cameras!

Gordon Lupien Jr. December 20th, 2003, 06:04 PM I received my HD1 yesterday and just started using it.
I couldn't get myself to spend the extra $1,000 on the HD10 and I thought having a "free" 30000U would be nice too. THe differences I have read about don't exactly add up to $1000 more for the HD1... Maybe I'm mistaken... The edge enhancement on the HD1 is quite noticeable, especially when projecting the image on a very large screen.
I noticed that the edge enhancement seems to be more pronounced when the exposure is not properly set (too low), and/or when the lighting is too dim. I imagine that this results from the shadows going black, causing a harsher transition to enhance?
I read a long thread on exposure control, but it covered a mix of HD1 and HD10 information. There was no indication to which camera the posts referred to. I'm currently at the point where I believe you can lock in an exposure offset with the exposure setting (dial, click thingy?) and then either select aperature (iris) or shutter priority.
If I lock exposure offset and then use the S/A button, does the exposure lock unlock? It looks to me like you want to select the exposure offset first and lock it, then go into S/A and set your shutter speed and let the aperature (iris) compensate. Sucks for depth of field control, but allowing the shutter speed to change is far more noticeable (at least to me). Especially when it transitions from 60 fps to 30 fps. I need to experiment more, obviously.
Can anyone provide their input for exposure control on the HD1 ONLY? (or at least, make a note that you're talking about the HD10).
There isn't just a lack of latitude... I'd call it no latitude! It looks like you either have to have your lighting and exposure set just perfect, or you will get all kinds of color noise and super edge enhancement. I noticed the noise on reds especially.
The LCD may indeed be useful because it shows artificial false colors when the exposure is too high or too low. It seems like you need to watch for over exposure at the same time you try and get the colors in the LCD to look right and then you end up with some good footage.
Anyone have a method for checking HD1 exposure they can describe?
Some comments: The camera is not that bad to use. I read some horror stories on other forums. There are some really bad ergonomic issues though. Those dials (like the menu and exposure dials) are TERRIBLE. You keep on entering the menu when trying to adjust shutter speed or F-stop. The selector/record knob/switch is also not too cool. I can switch modes on my TRV900 with my thumb. Can't do this on this camera without a whole lot of trouble. I imagine it gets easier... I've also almost dropped it a few times by grabbing the "handle" incorrectly.
Overall, I'm excited about it. The ergonomics can be dealt with, and the video quality (even with the obvious edge enhancement) is WORLDS better than standard DV from my TRV900. The video takes some getting used to as it is so much sharper. Maybe this is the EE problem...
As others have stated, you have to get your lighting (or exposure settings) just right, or forget it. If you're not lit enough, your color goes to heck in a handbasket, as does the sharpness. The image becomes a bunch of fake grey and white edges.
Thanks for this EXCELLENT forum!!! I was prepared to accept what I received and I received what I expected.
