troubleshooting LANC??

I have a Canon XL-H1 and recently tried (for first time) to use a Zoe remote zoom I'd bought over a year ago. This is the kind with a switch for choosing a Panny DVX or Canon/Sony signal.

Made sure I plugged it all the way in, but it didn't do anything...no lights, no zoom, no effect from buttons.

Sent it to 16x9 (Zoe) for testing, and they say it works fine.

Is there some setting on the Canon to allow LANC control, something else to check, or is the circuit just defective? I don't have any Canon repair facilities within hundreds of miles of me.

Thanks.

Canon factory service is 330 miles away in Jamesburg, NJ. Shipping it there will be your best bet. Are you sure the Sony / Panasonic switch is set properly?

Unfortunately, I checked the switch carefully, and I know the Zoe tech did as well.

Likely to be an expensive camera repair? Can they quote before I send it in?
