mxf to mpeg hd bitrate

i have some footage from a sony ex3. mxf files that i need to convert to mpeg2. what bitrate should i use to get the best picture. I am using adobe media encoder. I used mpeg 2 1080p at 23.976 with a bitrate of 60mbps is that high enough?

also what would be a better format to convert to if i don't use mpeg2 ?

Re: mxf to mpeg hd bitrate

Sounds like you don't NEED mpeg2. That's the native format for DVD's, and is going to degrade your image.

So the question is, "What are you doing next with that footage?"
