Steve Martin, Apple FCP3 Wiz Kid visits Ojai DV Camp

(For Immediate Release) The Ojai DV Camp brings Hollywood professionals to their upcoming DV MOVIEMAKING workshop with a special visit from Apple certified instructor Steve Martin. Steve has taught workshops at Macworld, AFI, NAB as well as creating The DV Guys, web radio show. He has authored two renowned CD Roms entitled Secrets of Final Cut Pro, PowerStart and the soon to be released Color Corrections for Final Cut Pro. In 2002 Steve launched Ripple Training and continues to provide timely, practical, and most of all, useful tutorials and resources so you can go about doing your job more efficiently while having more fun. Steve can be reached at www.rippletraining.com

The Camp is slated for December 14th and 15th 9am to 5pm and is being held at the Oak Grove School 220 West Lomita Street Ojai, California. The course fee is $325.
Sunday is devoted to post-production. Steve begins with a complete overview of Final Cut Pro 3. You will learn valuable tips and tricks as well as see the program’s advanced feature set of effects and editing tools. In the afternoon, you will see theory put into action as noted Hollywood Director Robert Grasmere joins Martin and they begin to editorially shape a sequence of scenes that were shot the previous day. Students will see the raw footage emerge into a dramatic scene. Finally you’ll learn how to prepare content for multi-media release using the innovative Sorenson Squeeze compression software.

Based on their press releases, several foveon pixels can be configured to represent a single video pixel. AKA variable pixel video. If you think about it, that means their 10 million pixel chip can record 1080p with not problem. With oversampling and subpixel rendering to boot.

Wait and see. Hype by any other name is still hype.

With only $14 mil in market capitalization and a 52 week trading range between 3.75 and 0.35 they appear to be more of a hobby than a business to the financial markets. They may be big joo-joo to post production houses but that's far too narrow and shallow of a business to raise public capital these days.

When they all go "real time everything" (hopefully in my lifetime in DV)- then we're really in for a good time............but by then our mini-DV "tape" cameras will be ole' tech and the new disk drive portable 24FPS HD cams will be all the rage- of course they wont have real-time HD editing, they'll need to render and it starts all over again......

...isn't technology grand?

FCP Version 16 maybe????
(hahaha- smile guys- you only live once)

VariZoom for Panasonic DVX100

Just tested our new VariZoom control for the Panasonic DVX 100.

Model# Stealth-DVX

The controller is very different internally then our other controllers. The zoom control allows for very smooth ramping up and down whether going wide or telephoto. The new control allows for Zoom, pause, record.

We will have it available at Dv Expo West in our booth #118 the product will be shipping in early January.

News At L.A. DV Expo and NY Digital Video Show

I can just see Sony announcing VX3000 the day after I buy the VX2000--if they were to announce such a thing is the L.A. DV Expo Dec. 9-12 or the NY Digital Video Show in January 2003 likely places to do so??

No, no, no. Sony won't announce the VX3000 the day after you buy a VX2000.

They will probably cut the price by 30% though. That's what always happens to me.

The TRV950 / PDX10 is still too new. My guess is NAB 2003.
