that downconverter sounds like a nightmare setup!
We have the Clairmont Camera F900's; the primary reason I went with them as a camera house was that they are set up and modified so that all of these types of issues are taken care of. The downcoverter rides on the back of the camera full-time and the battery attaches to that (or you can use a block battery). It was a snap to go into Steadicam mode. They have rebuilt the top handle so that you can fly the rig underslung, standard thread holes built right in. I'm using my Hot Gears to remotely operate the Arrihead right from the engineering station, so I have a 20" HD monitor to work from at all times, which is infinitely better than having to shoot "blind" (from the B&W eyepiece. |

Request: flash slideshow
Could someone create a flash slideshow out of 15 photos. They'll be mini-dv grabs so 640x480 is the max resolution. Probably the flash could be 1/3 the size so 213 x 160.
The deadline would be 12/1. Please post your example & the asking price. I can pay with PayPal & you can substitute my 15 photos for the temps. Thanks, Jed |

*** Video equipment rentals in Honolulu?
Does anyone know of any photography and/or videography gear rental shops in Honolulu, Hawaii?
I am from Vancouver and will be travelling there December 5 - 9 to shoot a corporate gig. I am bringing most rental equipment with me but would love a resource if the client thinks of things once I'm there that will need to be captured with different equipment. If nobody knows specifically, I'd love another online resource where I could look to see if there exists such a rental shop! Thanks in advance! |

XL1 for rent in Colorado
I personally own a Canon XL1 camera and I am willing to rent it out to someone who is making an indy movie. I am asking only $10 a day. My equipment is very basic. The extra items I have for this camera is a wind screen , UV filter, (2) 8-hour batteries, and a camera bag. I have a pretty nice tripod head too, but I need to keep the tripod with my ball head mount as I need it for my still photography. You need to live or be shooting your film in the Denver/Northern Colorado area. The cheapest I have seen this camera available for rent is $175 a day. I thought I would do a service to someone since my camera hasn't seen much use. My price is negotiable. I just thought I would throw this offer out there to see if I can help alleviate some costs as I realize how expensive movie making is. I enjoy watching indy films and this is what I have to offer. Thanks for reading this. Please do not contact me if you are out of state. I will not ship my camera to anyone. I will only deal with you in person. I will have a photo of my setup soon. If you have any questions please contact me.

serious reply...
Back to your original post, you are right, you might serve your needs well by looking elsewhere.
For the kind of "content" you are seeking, you would have to get publication rights and paper documentation in the form of releases from the talent for the public distribution of their images in the format and forum that you are considering. Your attourney will be able to fully disclose to you the needed legal documentation to continue your pursuits. For this kind of documentary work, you obviously have a professional business advisor and lawyer at the ready to provide such necessary resources. But don't use the cheapest ones available. Be prepared to have your cheque-book ready to the tune of about 375.00 per hour. But you knew that already. If anyone at this board can help with the kind of materials sought after as indicated, you might want to chime in. Otherwise, best of luck in fulfilling your requirement. |

Getting ready to start pre production on a short titled "old friends"
it's a story of a successful buisness executive, richard, who runs in to someone he used to know in highschool while waiting for his train to work. The chance meeting puts richard in a terifiying and seemingly imposable situation. I'm taking resumes from anyone who would like to help out. Here is the Crew Call at Mandy.com: http://www.mandy.com/1/jobs3.cfm?v=9251790 I've also posted an actor's call on actornews.com 2 Male roles late 20s early 30s 1 femal role late 20s early 30's This is a short script and shouldn't take more than a weekend to do, I'm aiming for the last weekend in january. That's asuming we can fill all the vital crew positions and equipment reqirurements. If anyone wants to read the script, apply for a crew position, cast position, etc. etc. send me an email at: krismallory@gmail.com |

Renting in London Ontario Canada?
Anybody know of anyplace around London, Ontario Canada that will rent out a Canon GL2 or XL1S for a day?

Edcom. Meadowbrook drive.
I'm not sure which brands are in their current stable ... they were on a dvx100 kick for a while... The banner at the top of their website shows the lens of an xl1s. |
DP Needed for Short Filming In Southern Cali
Our production is in need of a DP that has used or is familiar with a XL1/mini35 setup. Most likely we'll be getting a XL2 before we do principle shooting. Someone with experience in working with blue/green screen is a plus, for the story will be FX driven. It's gonna be a three day shoot ... some sound stage and outdoor shots. If interested you can email me (gbtracklight@tmail.com) and we can go over the particulars. The producer/writer's vision is bigger then the budget so creativity is gonna be key..... Yes, it's a paying gig. Thanks

All Florida DVX users!
All Florida DVX users!
Movie: We are to shoot a movie titled “MIX IT LIK A RECORD”. Location: http://www.supersonicstudios.com/ Miami Lakes FL Movie Website: http://harddisklife.com/HDL.html The 3-5 day shoot will take place over a 2 week period 1-5-2005 to 1-25-2005 and will be shot sporadically depending on scheduling variables. Those who commit must be able to be somewhat flexible but we are making every effort to execute the shoot in consecutive days beginning on the 5th. It will use advanced videography techniques that include multi-camera shooting, dolly & crane shots, cinematic lighting. Needless to say, the audio will rock too. We are seeking DVX users to participate in the shoot. Those who are chosen will be guaranteed production credits in the movie. We will base our decisions more on dedication and reliability than anything else. Since the producer and some of the crew are traveling from Seattle WA to FL we can’t afford to work with anyone who might “back out” or be a “no show”. If it’s going to be a maybe for you, we would appreciate that you decline rather than be unsure. If it’s a for sure deal, than welcome aboard! This movie is going to be a lot of fun.
