Rick - do you have actual shoot dates or locations yet? How long a shoot will it be (days? weekends?)?

Rick Jimenez April 16th, 2004 06:34 PM

The shooting schedule isn't set in stone yet, but it will definitely be on the weekends. The restaurant that I have a permit to shoot in will be done from 5am-7am before it actually opens to the public. All of the other scenes take place early as well so I think most of the shooting days will be wrapped up by noon.

The other scenes take place in apartments, a car, and a dirt lot.

The movie is only about 15min. long so there isn't a whole lot of production involved.

Craig Shosted April 16th, 2004 09:21 PM

Jim,

I am in Salt Lake with an XL1s. I'd be interested to help you out. Let me know.

looking for video editing job

Just a question for job searching reference. What would a person look up as a proper search Title, when looking for a video editing job? What do they call a person who does non-linear editing out in the proffessional world?Would it be under Broadcasting or Graphic artist or what would you search for when looking for a job? What would you call yourself if you were riting a resume?
Sorry, if I am in the wrong section ,didn't quite know were to put this.

K. Forman April 18th, 2004 09:19 PM

Look at Mandy.com, under Production jobs. There you will see ads looking for Avid experts, FCP Pros, NLE Editors, and many other titles.

I guess the answer would be, whatever fits you best.

Nancy Scott April 19th, 2004 09:15 AM

Joe: I'm happy to meet in D.C., VA or MD .. and free space sounds good to me.

Joe Carney April 19th, 2004 12:56 PM

For those interested, I would like a head count just to know what size room to look for. Anyone who repondes to this post, I'll get a notice, just post something like 'I'm there' or something.

Kris Holodak April 19th, 2004 12:59 PM

Include me in your head count, though I may not make the first one. Crossing the river is fine, especially if we're timing it for right after work. I find that if I go home first I never get back downtown or to VA.

Atlanta DVX-100 help

I have a two day project coming up at the end of May where I need a second cameraman to shoot DVX-100 footage, mostly tripod based. I have all equipment, I just need a second cameraman who has experience with a DVX-100.

I also want to shoot some wedding footage for you for FREE!

I want to do some test shooting using my DVX-100 at a wedding. Up to this point, all of my weddings have been shot in 30i and I want to gain some experience shooting weddings in 24pa and 30p. If anyone has a wedding in metro Atlanta coming up soon where I could come and take some "practice" shots, please let me know. I will give you copies of all of my DV tape for you to use in your production for free.

Send me an e-mail if you are interested in either of the above.

Kenny Emeson April 26th, 2004 03:40 PM

Meet Up!!!

Been away from this forum for sometime now. Been busy finishing principal photography on a short. But glad I checked in, and to learn about all these people in the area and the efforts you guys are making to get a group thing going on. I'm definitely down for the meetings and rather get togethers. I'm currently in post on one project and pre on the next one, but I'm sure I'll learn and most importantly have fun meeting up with you guys.

Also, there are a bunch of talented filmmakers in this area that I've been working with, I'm sure they'll be interested in meeting other like minds, and I'll pass the word to to them.

Let me know what you guys decide. kemeson@wrallp.com

Anyone out there?? Get in touch!

Joe Carney April 28th, 2004 07:04 PM

I haven't found a place in Rosslyn yet, but not giving up. Glad to see more and more getting interested. I'm also contacting others on other boards. Seems DC metro has a lot more people wanting to get together than most realized.

We are not alone. cool

Hey there! I'm in Fairfax---can't help you out this weekend, being that I'm doing the Mother's Day obligation and am playing hostess all weekend.

Wanted to point you to www.wifv.org---don't worry, we have plenty of male members. It's the premiere organization in town for video/film folks, with over 800 members. Well worth checking out.

Meine Frau ist hier, so I haven't had a lot of time to look. But I want to keep this thread open.

Nancy Scott May 4th, 2004 03:39 PM

Joe: Consider the thread open. We were fortunate to attend Barry's get-together on Saturday. Lots of good times and good music. If he's still willing and other things don't work out, his location would be great for our networking. Enjoy your visit!

WANTED: Wedding Videographer in NY

OK...here's the deal. My buddy is getting married, I told him I'd find someone to shoot the wedding. Of coarse everyone I know that would shoot it is booked or not around that weekend. I'd shoot it, but I'm the best man.

SO, I have the gear, (Canon Xl-1) all I need is a shooter. It's June 12 near Poughkeepsie NY (about 2 hours north of NYC). E-mail me if your interested, this might lead to other work (non-wedding), I do contract out work from time to time.

thanks!

Albnay NY area special f-x make-up artist

Hey -

I am looking for a makeup artist. The lead character, in a feature I am shooting this summer, through out the course of the movie has to go bald, get all sickly and have teeth fall out.
I will buy supplies but can't afford to pay.

Thanks.

Chet

May need help in LA

I have been in talks with a prospective new corporate client (R.E. developer) in LA, where I may need some extra camera ops with gear for multi camera interviews. Im looking for people with XL1s only and prefer the 16x manual lens, as I would like all cameras to match up as best as possible.

In addition the audio and lighting options you have and tripod. I may also be looking for a few broll shoots of structures & architecture in the LA Area and may also need someone with "steadicam" experience/gear.

If you are interested and have a reel and references (olny those who have been "working") please apply. Please email me your gear list, rate card, contacts and references for consideration.

While this isnt a sure thing, if it goes shooting will probably commence in mid june for about a week straight (various locations) and there will be other shoots throughout the year.

Thanks Michel

pls respond to my email below

Marco Leavitt May 13th, 2004 01:40 PM

Chet,
We have used a makeup artist who is pretty good, but she's never done this kind of specialty work. Still, she's pretty bright, and if you want, I could ask her if she thinks she could handle this type of job. I know she's worked for free before, but we've always paid her. Great attitude. A joy to have on the set. Hey, if you need any helping hands on your shoot let me know. I'm in Albany, and we're nearly wrapped on our latest project. We're unlikely to start shooting again on a new project before the fall.

Anthony Faust May 17th, 2004 07:43 PM

Hi DC filmmakers

Hey everyone,

My name is Anthony Faust and I am a film producer in the D.C area. I've uploaded my short film, "Hunter's Quandary", on my website. Feel free to check it out here.

http://www.anthonyfaust.com/hq/view_film.html

Right now, I'm writing a feature film. I'm looking for local producers and/or writers who are interested in collaborating with me on this project. Anyone remotely interested, feel free to email me at anthonyfaust@hotmail.com or call me at (703) 444-4695.

I want to hear from as many people as possible!

Cheers,

Anthony Faust

Nancy Scott May 18th, 2004 05:54 AM

I enjoyed this one, Anthony. Very nice direction, photography and sound. Great work!

May need a shooter in the Bay Area Pronto

I'm still trying to get out there myself, but I might need someone to do a static interview in Sausalito. I would supply the questions. He's a really interesting subject.

I'm shooing on a PD-170, so I'd prefer that or someone with a PD-150. Only that and a lavalier are necessary as I think it would be an outdoor shoot.

I have very little money, but there would be some, as well as a credit on a feature-length doc.

Please email me if you're interested:
