That really does seem excessive.

I would almost bet that part costs them maybe $ 35 tops.

like another poster stated, they were replacing those for free on the first offense because a lot of people accidentally blew them out hot connecting them.

And I thought $ 950 for a 3 chip ccd block was a lot (what canon gouged me for when my GL1 had hot pixels one month out of warranty)

This happened to me (HD200 + WIN XP) without Service Pack2.

IŽd dump VISTA too - for that moment.

In worst case, reinstall win xp + SP2 + updates. Then the driver should show up.
