When the deck is set to output DV on both the switch and menu there is no audio, but when either the switch or the menu is set to DV, FCP (which is in DV mode) does not recognize the deck, or tells me it cannot capture because there is no video (in spite of the fact that it is set up as an audio only capture). I'd love to know how you made it work.

Reading Steve's original post he said he managed to do it WITHOUT deck control... manual record. Plus it sounds like he was doing it straight off the camera not through the deck:

Yet there is a signal -- one that can be captured as "NTSC DV 48 kHz" WITHOUT video. (Also, with no real device control.)

So would I as I can't get the PCM audio anymore. But when I told JVC I was having trouble, they said keep trying! They recommended playing on a normal DV camcorder. Which I will try.

They seem very sure PCM was implemented.

It's still weird. One would expect they (JVC) marketed that as a selling point - as it really is that...

Instead they seem very, very quiet about it...

THey say they want NLE companies to support it before they go public.

David -- will CineForm support it?

Conclusion to this thread...

You'll find an important conclusion of this thread in Steve post in this thread at http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=68403 where Steve Mullen writes:

It must have been either an error in design or an experiment. For example, it being there does allow software to be developed to "get" it.

I wonder if the 200 and 250 will have PCM audio?
