FS: Porta Brace POL-A Polar Bear Heated Camera Case - Canon XL Series

Up for sale is a Porta Brace POL-A "Heated Camera Case". You can see the exact model at B&H: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ughType=search

It's more of a winter cover than "heated case" and the one I've got is in MINT condition. I received it as part of an XL1s package I purchased back in the day. It actually had the original sales tag on it (which of course, I ripped off like a child when I first recieved it) and since I've never used it, I'm thinkig it's never actually been used!

It is said to fit the Canon XL-1, but I would assume it also fits the XL1s, XL2, etc since the form factors are so close.

It's been a while since I've been on the forums, but you can check my Ebay under "compudork" and heatware.com under "robsmo". Please email any questions to me at robsmo AT yahoo.com. As for price please make an offer. As you see it retails for $334.95, but in my opinion that's too much, so if you're interested please feel free to shoot me a line and name your price!

Robbie

With that said, Craig - it's yours if you want it. Thanks Nick!

Forsale: Inbox GS400 with only 17 hours on video heads

Do you need to create professional video without breaking the bank?

The GS400 is a 3-ccd true widescreen (16:9) camera. Its the king among boys of affordable true 16:9 3-ccd cameras. Others have already extolled the virtues far better the I could, check the following reviews:

http://www.dvspot.com/reviews/panaso...ew/index.shtml
http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content...der-Review.htm
http://reviews.cnet.com/Panasonic_PV...-30974586.html
http://www.ciao.co.uk/Panasonic_NV_G...Review_5542748
http://review.zdnet.com/Panasonic_PV...-30974586.html

What is this Camera's history, why are you selling it?

I was involved in a production that was intended for distribution on a widescreen 'NTSC' dvd, and mpeg4 video for computer. I purchased this camera with only 10 hours on it for $1600 Canadian earlier this year. We filmed only 5 miniDV tapes worth of footage before the project was put into stasis. Since then, I used the camera quite often as a still picture digital camera. The GS400 is a such a good camera for the price, and hard to find on the market in this good of shape, that I'd rather not sell it EXCEPT for the fact I need to raise funds to buy aMacBook Pro for my birthday (I'm using a great, but slow, 400mhz iMac right now). This is a fine camera and I guarantee you will be very satisfied with it. I don't think that many GS400's exist with this little usage on it. There is ONLY 17 hours of run time on the video heads. (This is verifiable from the service menu picture at the address at the end of the post, which also shows the camcorder has never experienced a mechanism or lens motor lock, instructions to decode the this screen are here: http://media.pana3ccduser.com/wiki/i...0Error%20Codes)

Why would I want a GS400 over GS500 or other models?

The GS500 is a let down as it shed the features that make it suitable for low budget quality video production. The gs500 shares the same optic system withLeica Dicomar lens. The GS500 lacks the valuable 'Zebra-stripes' feature, making it requiring an expensive external light meter to set lighting for correct exposure. The GS400 has a manual control ring assignable to various functions, such as manual iris control, the key to 'pro' looking video.

What will I get?

Asides from the satisfaction of owning one fine and capable camera you will receive:

* Original Box
* Camcorder Unit
* Ac Adapter, with ac cable/dc cable
* Battery
* Shoulder Strap
* A/V Cable
* Lens Cap
* IR Remote Control with Battery
* Magicwire Remote Control
* PC Connection Cable (USB)
* Software
* Operating Instructions

Plus, I'll include a few essentials (about $150 worth of stuff)

* 128mb SD Card
* Firewire Cable
* ~5 New MiniDV cassetes
* Glottos high quality table tripod with leather pouch

Do you have pictures of this camera and its accessories?

Yes, I'll will post them at http://www.tylerwalton.net/gs400/ before January 2nd.

What are you willing to trade for this camera?

Ultimately I'm using this money to buy a MacBook Pro. If you want to trade yours for this camera plus some cash I'm all for that.

I could possibly trade for a MacBook and cash. You you want to use cash to buy it, I'll sell it for $1400 USD by check or money order, or $1450 by PayPal (to cover fees). I'll include shipping and insurance in this price. I'll consider offers for a lesser amount if this camera doesn't sell for my asking price during the next month.

Thank you for taking your time to read my post

Please feel free to email me at hyperi0n.v2@gmail.com with any questions.

Are you including any lenses? This is the latest version of the LetusXL right, with the flip built in?

Thanks...tight schedule right now so don't know if I'd have time to pick up/put together a set of primes.

Andrew Todd December 30th, 2006 02:55 AM

ive recently switched from canon fds to nikkor lenses so i check around to see what fds i have left as i will be keeping the nikkor lenses. the letus35xl is the newest version which mounts directly to the canon xl body mount by means of a relay lens. (xl1,xl2,xlh1). It is flipped. im going home tommorow afternoon.. so i can get some pics and clips together early in the new year

thanks

I might be interested in the Letus. What do you mean by it "attaches directly to the body bb y means of a relay lens"? Does the Letus attach to the body (without having to use shims, etc? What is a "relay lens"

Like New Canon XL2, w/Kata CCC-10 Case ---Warranty!

Ok guys and gals, I made that big big buy and bought my XLH1. As much as I would love to keep my XL2, there is just no way I can. Got to get that new camera paid off!

MY XL2 camera has probably less than 20 hours total time. Like they all say, never used as a deck, but I "do" have a deck!

The camera is clean and in about as perfect a shape as it can be. It was always kept covered or in its case. It hasw NEVER given me one problem!

It was bought from B&H in November of 2005, so the factory warranty ran out about a month and a half ago. BUT, I bought the 4 year Mack extended and transferable warranty! So you have almost four years of warranty left to find something wrong with it! :)

It is being sold with a Kata CCC-10 case, and all of the original camera accessories. The camera will be shipped in its original box, and the Kata case will be shipped separately, at my expense.

The cameras are $3,399.95 from B&H right now, the warranty is $169.95 and the case sells for about $239.00, for a total of about $3,809 plus all of the shipping and any taxes. I will ship both boxes to your door and cover any PayPal fees if you use PayPal, for a total of only $3,100. You save well over $700 and get a perfect camera.

I have bought and sold many items to and from folks from this forum, so you can buy with confidence.

If you absolutely need pictures I can post them, but it is an XL2 and they all look the same. I did not, as one member joked, paint racing stripes on it. :)

Thanks------Mike

Jim Karrels December 30th, 2006 02:03 PM

Sold (again!)

If for some reason my second buyer backs out, I will re-list.

Thanks for looking.

--Jim

Andrew Todd December 30th, 2006 04:38 PM

hey bruce.. the adapter is direct mount to the body.. unlike most adapters which you would have to mount on the front of your 20x lens which makes for an even more front heavy xl2. the relay lens is a part of the adapter which does the work that the 20x would normally do but in a much more compact way. it comes with a reversible mount which allows for nikon and canon lenses. they go for $900 brand new.

i do have to finish the project im working on before i can let these go.. but ill be home tommorow and will post some pics and footy ASAP
