Chris, what is your price range?
|
Yup, I'm a verified paypal user and I don't mind paying the shipping...
There's a very strong chance I'll be buying one of those kits, but unfortunately I won't be able to let you know for sure for two weeks. If you find someone to sell them to before then, that's perfectly understandable. If it's not too much trouble, could you find out a rough shipping cost? That'll help me work it all out. No worries if you can't. Cheers -Jon |
I sent an email Sunday morning and have not heard back...

The Sony is the only one of that group that uses full size cassettes, which is nice for shooting events. We have a DSR250 but still use it too much to consider selling. It looks better than you'd expect for the price. I intercut it with the DSR500 all the time, shooting studio and office things with the DSR500 and then exterior and "B roll" stuff with the 250.
That JVC is actually a legitimate shoulder mount camera. Just as long but not as tall as the 250. If it's affordable for you and if you don't need 3 hour record times, I'd go for it over the others. I've been shooting HDV for personal documentary work with the Canon XH A1, and I hate to say it, but its image looks better than the 2/3" chip DSR500. If you need penis envy, get a camera like that, plus a shoulder mount and matte box and you're in the ball park. A friend of mine shot some spots for an agency with his Sony Z1, equipped with Cavision matte box, rails and shoulder mount. They whined about it because it wasn't a big camera and not "real" HD...until they saw the footage. Now they're loving that camera. He said the only reason he bought the shoulder mount and matte box was so the clients would think it looked more like a film camera. |
For those thinking of buying some of Eric's equipment, I just bought and recieved a wireless transmitter from Eric and was thoroughly satisfied with the transaction.
