I agree - the lcd in direct sun light is far from usable. I also have Petrol hood, but I can't figure out how to put it on. It keeps sliding off the LCD. Anyone could help - maybe some pics?

my main concern would be the output - if is enough for my needs. My 50W bescor light is enough for me, so if Z50 is comparable with it then I'll give it a go.

I agree with you. I do not understand why some of those controllers are sooooo expensive. If they can manufacture whole camera for less then $200-300, why such a small device is so over priced.
