Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

I think it's an interesting question, but I think you are oversimplifying the answer. From my
experience there are many reasons brides ignore the wedding video. Price is the reason for
some and...

Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

So, in the interest of full disclosure. As you said, I WAS going to be shooting the wedding anyways.
So guess what? I had an HD Hero cam on a slider (mounted on a tripod) to do a couple 'artsy'...

Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

A lot of interesting discussion here. For what it's worth, I do weddings, but I certainly don't
make my total living doing them. I do corporate video, interviews, freelance news, pick up editing,...

Re: GH3 vs D800 vs FS100 which to get?

You have to look at more than just bitrate. The FS100's AVCHD is widely regarded as some of
the best around, it certainly looks better than higher bitrate stuff from some Canon DSLR's.
Possibly...

Re: Sigma 50-150 OS on C300

Paul,

Problem is, the IS version is very big and heavy, whereas the non-IS version (now discontinued and
a bit hard to find) is nice and light. So having the IS version almost seems to cancel...

Re: Unreliable iris while using Metabones adapter

Yeah, it's not really a problem once you know about it. I just didn't know about it and
wrongly assumed that the firmware update had 'killed' the ability to have focus distance and
zoom position...

Re: What kinds of production do you?

Almost 10 years ago now, I lost my job as a TV news videographer/editor. I had a PD 150, a lighting kit, a couple microphones and FCP so out of desperation I started trying to sell my services. ...

Re: Unreliable iris while using Metabones adapter

My blog does have the step by step on this. From what I understand, Sigma lenses have a bit
of trouble with the Metabones smart adapter. I had the EXACT symptoms that you did Peter.
Well, kinda. ...

Re: nice lighting, by yourself, short etup time. . .HOW?

I too use Lowell Rifa's for the key and a reflector for the fill.
Then set up a back/hair light and if i have time, a background
light and I'm done.

Re: Tips on how to get reliable assistants?

I probably on average only have to hire help 3 or 4 times a year. The biggest tip I can give is
pay them! Right away after the gig is over. Even if you haven't been paid a single cent by the...

Re: nice lighting, by yourself, short etup time. . .HOW?

I do these all the time. My setup time varies from 20 minutes to 45 minutes depending on
the room and distance from my car that I have to 'load in'. One thing that has helped a lot
is these...

Re: VG-20.....new to me

Thanks. It won't be perfect, but short of another fs100 my guess was this was as good a
match as I could get. And lots of stuff I shoot could use 2 cams. Even on a simple interview,
it's nice...

VG-20.....new to me

I own an FS100, but more and more have been needing to get a B-camera for it. I've been looking all over and trying to figure out what to get. For awhile, I was thinking of the EX-1. But then I...

Re: FS100 wide angle lens

There's tons of good wide angle lenses. Tokina 11-16 is popular. I've got a Sigma 10-20
that is really nice and sharp. For ultra wide (and no fisheye if you can believe it) is a
Sigma 8-16. If...

Re: FS100 wide angle lens

Canon FD lenses don't work with the speed booster, only full frame EF lenses I think.

Re: Thoughts on Metabones new Speed Booster EF Adapter? Full frame FOV on the FS100

Well it's not must have if you don't own any Canon full frame lenses. Looks cool though.

Re: Clipwrap .mov files and Premiere Pro CS 6......

Kevin,

Maybe I didn't explain very well. I shoot a good amount of video. So, I also need to archive it.
I have a short term archive on USB hard drives and a long term one on blu ray discs....

The way I understand it (and I could be wrong) when anything has a .mov extension.....Premiere CS6
'goes through' or 'uses' Quicktime in the playback process. Quicktime being older/legacy 32 bit...

What you want is the Metabones adapter. I have more information on it on my blog. www.gforcevideo.com and click
on the 'blog' button. It's the entry entitled:

Re: Like a BOSS.....

Wow first guess....I'm actually using the Metabones adapter, but yeah you got it.
I'd never heard of a 28-105 constant 2.8. I knew about the 17-50, the 24-70, the
70-200, the 50-150, but didn't...

For the record....I love Clipwrap. It's awesome and I don't want to put it down in
any way. Just trying to help others who may be having the same issues I was.

Re: Low light issue FS100 vs EX1

No problem we've all been there.....or at least I have more times than I want to admit.
I actually use a different solution instead of a matte box.....the Xume solution.
But that's because I do...

Re: Low light issue FS100 vs EX1

Umm....sorry to break this to you but there is NO zero setting with ANY variable ND!!!
That's one of the disadvantages of having no built in ND, there is NO 'off' setting on
any ND filter you put...
