Pretty normal behavior if you ask me... the lens does breathe quite a bit. The XL2 is MUCH MUCH sharper than the XL1s, you are noticing that more than the lens I suspect.

You cant export 24P to tape, you have to insert the missing frames. Premiere does this automatically, just check the Project Settings, then Playback Settings and then choose which conversion for 24P....

What frame mode were you in? For reasons I do not know, Canon made NR1 equal to the HIGH mode of the XL2 and NR2 equal to the LOW mode. Very backasswards...that NR1 is HIGH...
