Re: UPDATE: Still researching, still undecided.

Well one thing is for sure, You won't know till you buy something and get to flying.

My advice is buy one of anything and see if its good enough. If its not sell it and buy another one.

At...

Re: HD Video Transmission

You can do 300' with hdmi to sdi converters. I shot a wedding where there were more people attending than would fit in the church. We ran a RG6 coax more than 500' to an adjacent building where the...

Re: Best Interview Lens

If space allows my go-to lens is a 85mm. People look great when shot in this range and the camera is far enough back to not be as imposing.

I recommend not going wider than about 35mm. Otherwise...

Re: Newbie Videographer: Studio Light Setup Mess.

Absolutely correct. I won't go into too much detail here as to hijack this thread since our priority should be to help Brandon. As a quick aside - a EX3 is a very different animal shooting green...

Re: Newbie Videographer: Studio Light Setup Mess.

The dslr records with a 4:2:0 chroma subsampling. That means that 75% of the color information is discarded. A traditional video camera can offer 4:2:2 subsampling which gives you more chroma detail...

Re: Newbie Videographer: Studio Light Setup Mess.

To be a bit blunt if the Brandon is having trouble lighting a basic white background then switching from an unevenly lit white to an unevenly lit green screen with a dslr will be a disaster.

You...

Re: Newbie Videographer: Studio Light Setup Mess.

I would urge caution using a green screen for a dslr shoot. In my opinion you will get a better looking result with the white background assuming you can get your lighting sorted. Dslrs can be much...

Re: Newbie Videographer: Studio Light Setup Mess.

You need to set your background lights at different heights. Have one light the top of the screen and the other light the bottom. This might sound counterintuitve but you should also move the...

Re: Newbie Videographer: Studio Light Setup Mess.

If you have a 3 light kit now give this a try.

Set up 2 of the 3 on the background with soft boxes. Point them so they face the background only. Don't allow ANY of the light energy to fall...

Re: Just got the 7Q?

Please don't push for timeframes. Unmet schedules for this product has already caused a lot of angst with me personally and I'm sure with others. I would rather CD not say anything about when...

Re: Some basic questions for upcoming FS700 rental

The start/stop button should trigger the 7q fine. You will just need a lanc extension cable.

Re: Some basic questions for upcoming FS700 rental

I can contribute that there is currently no remote start and stop for the 7q. That feature is on the roadmap but not in the current firmware.

Re: Sound Devices Pix 2401 sound

Re: Lowest ISO in 4K mode

That is as low as it goes.

Why are you wanting to lower the ISO? If you drop below the native ISO of the sensor you will be doing it at the determent of the dynamic range.

If you need to...

I got an email from CD when the firmware was released. You may need to check and make sure you are registered properly.
