It seems there's a BP-2L18 being sold online (3rd party) which is 2000mAh 7.4v and is supposedly compatible with the BP-2L14 (Canon's 1450mAh). I'm comparing a "BP-2L12" 3rd Party and an Original...

I better take a peak at the cinevate forum then, hope that post is easy to find. 8-) No, I haven't made a mount yet, but I do use a monopod so I just flipped it. I'm learning to frame inverted...

How are you dealing with the LCD?

Chris,

These Canons are too smart for me. While inverted, the LCD adjusts so the image still isn't "right-side up" though the captured image no longer needs rotation. Which flip method are you...

DIY Static 35 on HV20

The light gathering on the single CMOS HV20 is superior to my single CCD ZR200 (of course!). I bet a 3CCD Panasonic GS could probably do well, but that's not the point here. With the brighter...

Am I seeing what you're talking about?

Reviewing all my m2t files for the first time I noticed this horizontal banding during panning movement. I'm not too familiar with the correct lingo, are these motion artifacts? interlace "blur"? ...

In what kinds of environments have you used this in? The reviews I've read are mixed. Some call it great, one VX user said generated too much noise because of the plastic in its construction.

How far is the achromat to focus screen and macro?

Chris,

Which achromat are you using and what distance do you have from focus screen to achromat and achromat to HV20 lens? It appears to me that the zoom can only go as far as a little over 1/2...

C.S. Michael,

By 'crap' you mean they don't last as long as expected or did you have other problems? B&H were out of Impact batteries so I ordered the original Canon model. I'm looking at...

It's a monopod for me

I got lucky today and was just in time to pickup one of five HV20s that literally just came in to B&H. I was originally there to buy a tripod/monopod (my previous noname didn't survive abuse). ...

Rafael,

LOL, welcome to DIY. What you bought is called 'epoxy putty' here in the states. Sounds like you bought steel putty epoxy. They're not kidding about the strength of that epoxy, you can...

Chris, did you have to cut and bend that aluminum yourself or is there a shop that can do it for you?

welcome to the madness

Rafael, sorry confusing you with the word 'glue.' We often first think of superglue or elmer's glue when we hear this word.

In truth both superglue and epoxy are kinds of resin. The difference...

Wow!

Thanks Bob! I'm still trying to digest it. But I think I understand that the motor has to be laid on the same plane as the focus screen (vertical in my case) and center. The idea being to move...

Get a filter and JB Weld

Rafael,

Your tube is probably 57mm threaded with a 54mm inner diameter. To solve this, buy the cheapest 58mm filter you can find. Then take out the glass and retainer. Afterwich, use a slow...

Is there a wrong way to mount vibrating motor?

Is there a wrong way to mount a vibrating motor? I've made a mount from a plastic card for a Nikon F3 Type D. Because there wasnt enough room to mount the motor vertically, I attached it...

Another DIY

Luke, if you really want to build it with the parts you mentioned you should look at the original Aldu35 (static) design. Then mount a vibrating motor on it.

Suggestions on how to test

David, when I was building my adapter for a 28mm Canon ZR200 I thought I needed an achromat/macro too. I understand from the thread at HV20 that he already had the achromat so he used it (the video...

Sorry to revive an old thread, but want to know

I bought a Jin She Jie Quan macro extension tube from ebay (not the same seller above) which looks very similar but the thread between spacers appears to be 57mm. Is there another way to...

Figured out how to play it

The lowlight video wouldn't play for me until it was renamed to avi rather than wmv. Used MPC rather than WMP.

Interested parties want to know

Ken, just want to clarify that you are able to go from standing to sitting and perhaps walk with the image holding reasonably within around the subject? You are doing this full wide right? Please...

The jumpiness of the image reminds me of those cheap MPEG4 digicamcorders. I also get those if I reused the same MiniDV tape more than once in my Canon Elura / ZR200. Just a guess. Maybe issue...

It's like a training class for complete amateurs

Thanks Wayne! It was a good learning experience. I'm thinking of this as a "cheap" way to learn the limitations of a basic 35mm adaptor. Someday when I get serious (and my wallet is less lean)...

A so simple its silly static 35mm adapter

This adapter is only half finished but it works. I started with a spinner and then did a static when the parts arrived. The principles from the spinner taught me enough that this just clicked.

Are all binocular front lenses achromat? And do I understand correctly that distance between macro/acromat to gg and camcorder lens does not matter?
