Re: Status 7/7Q
The plus side is the technology has developed enough that even though the pixels degrade the loss rate is lower and likely not noticeable over the expected lifespan of the monitor.

Re: Status 7/7Q
Its based on hours of run time and how bright the image being displayed is. More an "area under the curve" kind of thing.
All phosphor based LEDs go through lumen degradation over time as they...

Re: Status 7/7Q
That isn't outdated info except the time it takes to happen is longer than it used to be. It will happen eventually though. Especially with the blue pixels. It helps that the panel on the 7q does not...

Re: Status 7/7Q
It is a whole lot better than most LCD based field monitors. I do like that part quite a bit.
I have used it a good bit for field work. The issue with me is that I shoot a good bit of LOG based...

Re: Status 7/7Q
I've not put a calibrator on there to see hard numbers but the "seat of the pants" color looks to be quite good with the 7q sitting next to my calibrated color correction monitor.

Re: Status 7/7Q
Where this has left me is going into my 7th shoot this weekend since I bought the 7q and I've not recorded a single frame of video with it yet. Its not useful to me till it can record longer than 45...

Re: Studio storage / networking advice please~
We bought a really nice Cisco switch - used - for pennies on the dollar off Craigslist. If you look around you'll see we are awash in great networking gear just sitting around. You don't have to buy...

Re: Importing MXF in Avid 7.0.3 (mac)
Try to AMA link them from a folder OUTSIDE the AVIDMEDIAFILES folder and see if you can open them that way.
If so do a CONSOLIDATE on the media. That will bring it into the AVIDMEDIAFILES folder...

Re: Studio storage / networking advice please~
We have a network setup for our media and we can easily serve several streams of 220mb material from the server over our gigabit network. This obviously isn't 4k. What we had to do to make it work is...

Re: Anyone using lightscribe dvd's?
Unless there has been some breakthrough in printing speed you won't like it.
The Wiki page for lightscribe indicates that HP has abandoned the technology.

Re: Anyone using lightscribe dvd's?
I used to use them but don't anymore. They are nice for filling out some text or something simple. The process is WAY too slow. Painfully slow actually. Waiting 15 min for ONE disk to print will...

Re: Best way to color correct Gopro Protune?
I would recommend using the GoPro utility as a start. It has a protune setting in the software that corrects for the flat image. You can use that to help you establish a preset in your editing...

The challenge with trying to correct that problem in post is when you look at the scopes you will see that the blue channel has been clipped. As we know anytime data is clipped it is lost. You can...

Re: Does autofocus dslr video work on steadycams?
That seemed to work much like the FS700 does auto focus wise. When I watch it full screen at higher resolutions I see a bit a focus hunting in most of the shots.
If you notice many of the shots...

Re: Sony F3 E-Mount cap
The F3 doesn't come with a body cap. It ships with the PL mount attached to the body. The PL mount has a cap. My F3 did not arrive with separate FZ mount a body cap. Only a PL mount cap.

Re: Status 7/7Q
That was my understanding as well. Till then it will just be a very expensive monitor for me. If I had understood that DNxHD was not in the initial release I would have waited to purchase the 7q.

Dan can you confirm that there will be a "less popular" compressed codec in the Feb release (DNxHD)?
Will we have the option for MXF container?

The answer to #2
There is there is a 1/4-20 tapped into the rear bottom center.

Re: Status 7/7Q
