Re: Classical music and copyright

Depends on what orchestra or group recorded it. You want Chicago or Cleveland? Gonna pay out the nose. If a lesser orchestra or group records it, could be very inexpensive. Chances are you can find...

Re: EX1 mixed with XF300 music video

They match pretty well out of the box. Since your under the same lights I don't think you will have any issues. Most of my cutting has been interviews from various places and even then, it was just a...

Re: AG-AC130 vs XF300

The biz aspects of camera purchases are a tricky area. Personally, I was doing just fine with my hmc150 but started landing a few greenscreen gigs which really showed the 150's deficiencies. After...

Re: New toys

What's up with that?!? A few years ago one of my friends scored a set of Zeiss primes on Craigs list for some ridiculous price! Why can't I run into one of these deals??

Anyway...congrats and...

Re: Compact HD Camera w/ Big Punch!

And there is the real truth...the hmc40 and even my xf300 are not considered "pro" in many circles.
Auto iris or exposure has never worked as well as as I can operate it. My 300 has the same type...

Re: MV shot on Sony F3 with Zeiss ultraprimes, 10bit SDI recording

Nice job! And yeah...can you put a blur on the whole thing so I don't cry and whine about wanting an f3? That is some insane detail and color! Just curious how much of a difference the zeiss lenses...

Re: Compact HD Camera w/ Big Punch!

Sorry but I'm not a cinema student. Rather a pro videographer who is used to dealing with dynamically changing situations and using the manual controls. The project I used the 40 on was a documentary...

Re: Motion controlled slider options?

I have both controllers and for slider work the basic is fine. If you need repeatable moves or the damping then the oracle is the ticket. And when you get the revolution head you'll be all set! I use...

Re: Wireless Lavalier which one to get?

I'm a g2/g3 user and about 3 months ago re-miked my kits with a Sanken COS11 and Voice Technologies VT500. What a difference!!! The mics are a bit different so I choose based on who I'm putting them...

Re: AG-AC130 vs XF300

The evf is useful if you're truly handheld. Gives you another point of contact to stabilize. Plus in the bright sun, the LCD is pretty useless unless you have a hood.
I've gotten used to shooting...

Re: AG-AC130 vs XF300

On paper the hpx250 is the competitor to the xf300. No matter how the 130 gets updated over the 150 (which I owned for two years) the codec is the weak point. I think the 130 will fall between the...

Re: Narrative Film Audio Workflow? FCP, SB, PT

Here's a cool thing to consider with FCP and PT....most plugins work in both apps.
I have waves and t-racks plugins that I use all the time in pro tools. I was doing the round trip workflow because...

Re: So why should I buy a FS-100?

Bruce, that's what all of us want for Christmas!! Ha ha! A camera from Canon to blow the fs100 and af100 out of the water.
As for the OP, even though i do a ton of shooting with the 7D, I much...

Re: DSLR or New camcorder?

Had this discussion with a friend the other day. Personally I think the DSLR game is coming to an end. Now that there's affordable camcorders with interchangeable lenses and large sensors why would...

Re: Kessler K-Pod good for travel/event videography?

As much as I love and use my kpod, I dread loading it for gigs as it's a freekin tank. I bought it for supporting the Kessler 12' jib (have a gig later today in fact!) and there isn't any tripod I...

Re: Canon used in British Airways commercial

As an aviation nut and as someone who's been in the production biz a while, that is now one of my fav ads of all time. Really is a benchmark to aspire to from the concept to the script, shooting to...

Re: XF105 vs XF300 for videojournalism

Well, since I'm not the 5D or 100 owner, I dont have the exact settings but I can tell you we started with the Phillip Bloom settings for the 5D which were a big help. Im sure you can find them...

Re: Replay XD footage test

Well, mine is probably overkill but seems to work well, It's 2 sets of small airplane landing gear with some lightweight crossmembers and wood dowels for skids.

I will be tweaking this a bit as...

Re: XF105 vs XF300 for videojournalism

I have used the 105 a bit and have owned the 300 for a while. They are awesome cameras but do fill different niches.
The 300/305 are the flagship cameras from canon right now. The 100/105 are the...
