Re: modify 24LE for RED

Thereotically you shouldn't have any problems with the video line, unless some demon is sneaking voltage across it that shouldn't be there. Honestly if anything is the culprit it's the RED camera. R1...

Re: modify 24LE for RED

I don't know if Tiffen is doing any hanky panky with their wiring of the BNC--if it is a straight run of 75 ohm cable and the proper BNC's, it will pass SDI from top to bottom. I'd give them a quick...

Re: How was this interview lit?

Not sure which side is which--I would say his right side (which appears on the left side of the frame is less lit than his left. To me it looks like natural bounce back from the background, creating...

Re: How was this interview lit?

That source is dead center, not off to the left, as can be evidenced by the shadow under the nose and chin which is perfectly centered.

Without knowing anything about the space, it's hard to say...

Re: How was this interview lit?

I don't usually find hair useful as a telltale for lighting plans as it has a lot of texture and variation. With an extreme closeup you can see enough of the reflection of the lights in the eyes to...

Re: Color Graded Monitor

I should also mention the Sony PVM 2541, which is $500 more than the Flanders but it is an OLED, and has an amazing image. The blacks are to die for. In some ways they are too good--you may see...

Re: Canon EOS C100

Probably--since I already own a Nanoflash, I am indeed considering the C100. I do start to wonder at that point what advantage the C300 would have over the 100--starts to get slim (if I need to...

Re: Color Graded Monitor

Paul:

I use the Flanders on location, as a production reference monitor. I have a JVC 17" HD CRT in my edit setup that I've had since around 2006. It serves its purpose. I used to lug it out to...

Re: Color Graded Monitor

Sharing my experiences on this:

I've owned a Dreamcolor for a few years. As a studio monitor connected via DVI, it's a well-documented performer, with 30 bit performance. As a location monitor...

Re: Canon EOS C100

The answer to your first question should be: "as much as is necessary to achieve the desired look". Hopefully that isn't over-the-top. Sometimes there's a need to do a significant amount of pushing...

Re: Looking for footage of time lapse sunset/mansion

Thanks Bob, I made that link more apparent.

You are right, Invercloy isn't quite right but I appreciate the thought.

We shot the interiors at the Paramour...

Looking for footage of time lapse sunset/mansion

I need a time lapse sequence of the sun going down over an epic mansion--the piece is set in 1902 so it should obviously be a mansion from previous era . Something like these...

Re: Where are the women??

Depends on how big you are talking; blockbusters, pretty rare. But off the top of my head there are Ellen Kuras, Nancy Schrieber, Uta Briesewitz who have shot well-known features and TV shows. I know...

Re: Flying with Equipment

A number of the major airlines (Delta, American, Southwest) still have "media rate" allowances which let you travel with gear under special provisos, which are generally a cap of $50 per piece for...

Music video dealing with domestic violence

I was asked to direct this project a while back, it has taken a long time to be released. At the time, the only way to shoot in the kind of light levels we had for the night exteriors of the girl...

Re: What kind of lenses are you planing to use

It wouldn't crop per se....thus would have the same field of view as any 18mm lens on that camera. As always , it's the size of sensor that dictates the fieldmof view.

Re: Scout vs Zephyr

Joe, do you have issues with the Pilot design or are you just suggesting this because of the decreased payload (which hinders its practical usage)?

For me, the only part of the Pilot that I found...

Re: nanoFlash with Canon C300?

Sounds good!

Well, as it turns out I'm probably going to shift from a Nanoflash to a Gemini soon, so if anyone is in the market for the former, let me know!

Re: New season of Key & Peele!

Allan: I'm guessing you are referring to "What's the Joke"?

To be honest, the brutality of the opening of that sketch has always surprised me a little, although it does set up the style that we...

Yes. There have been occasions where I have had relatively dark scenes with a certain amount of hot highlight (think: bar interior with hot practicals in frame, moody day interior with windows...
