Anyone else have thoughts on this? My DVD drive is getting cranky, takes a long time to boot up a disc so I want to replace it. I was thinking the A07--any other suggestions? I usually burn DVD-R's. ...

Gotcha. Dennis, if you find the XL1 red, you probably won't like the results with a 1/4 blue. You may even prefer to WB through a 1/4 or 1/8 orange (CTO) to cool off the image. Josh, you might want...

Kodak now has something like 4 different 500 ASA stocks (used to only be one!), so the choices are getting more complicated. They have gotten very good, so you don't have to worry as much about grain...

Haven't found this to be an issue. Some people have noted that the beginning of the first Seinfeld movie ("Uniform") seems red-heavy in the skin-tones; actually it was lit that way intentionally, to...

Michael:

As I'm sure you know, the cost of shooting film has little to do with the camera rental, and a lot to do with the stock/processing/telecine costs which have no counterpart to speak of in...

John:

Patrick was not on set, there was a stand-in actor. I'm not even sure if Patrick had been cast when we shot the piece.

Josh, if I remember correctly we generally used a 1/4 blue and an...

Not as readily, no. You have to increase the exposure so that you can shoot with a fatter stop, which may or may not be feasible. For a night exterior, that can be formidable, since each stop means a...

Actually Phil, the conversion factor to cine should be around 4.4x, netting you an equivalent 53mm to your 12mm. Exposure is exposure; a f2.8 is the same amount of light delivery regardless of the...

One meager bone in favor of Canon--"28L" was shot on the XL1, not XL1s...like I said, meager. And I suppose this whole issue will gain new life when the XL2 makes an appearance.
