Re: Can anyone give a report on using the EF-S 17-55 with the C300?

Vignetting is not a problem with the 17-55. I have peripheral illumination turned on of course and it looks great all the way through the zoom range. But I do prefer the 24-105. That's my main...

Re: Is exposing C-log different than usual?

That's exactly what I've done as well. I just want an easier way to change color temp.

Re: Is exposing C-log different than usual?

I assigned ISO to button 1 so I can't say it'd save me an hour per year but it would be nice. Actually, if it could be assigned to color temp I'd probably do that as I do a lot of run & gun.

Re: Is exposing C-log different than usual?

I can't seem to assign two different functions to the wheel on the hand grip and the lower wheel on the body. Has anyone been able to do this? I would request that in a firmware update if it's not...

Re: Is exposing C-log different than usual?

Nope not a typo. I got that number from an unusual source. It's what Marshall recommends for skin tones when using their false color feature. Looked great to me so I stuck with it.

So 60 in C-Log...

Re: Is exposing C-log different than usual?

I'd also like to hear form others on this. I hear you on the grey/white card method but is there an easier way to get perfect exposure on the fly without a card in the scene? On the EX1, I set zebra...

Re: A letter to Canon

You guys are going to love it. And I don't mind too much not having AWB. I shot on EX1s for a couple years and never used AWB. But I always dialed in a kelvin on the fly and it was really easy....

Re: A letter to Canon

The C300 is a wedding videographer's dream come true. I shot a wedding with it 3 days after receiving it and it was a breeze. Makes my life so much easier, and my footage a little better too. But it...

Re: A letter to Canon

And that's why I love my C300. But I do wish it had auto white balance. I shoot weddings (among other things) and am constantly moving between all kinds of lighting and it's a pain to keep switching...

Re: C300 with Canon OS lens

I shoot probably 80% handheld. 2 years on Canon SLRs and now the C300. My go to glass is the 70-200 2.8 IS II, 17-55 IS, 24-105 IS. Really happy with the IS on all these lenses. Makes a big...

Re: What kind of lenses are you planing to use

Yes, good point on using the 100 on a super 35 sensor. One thing I will definitely miss is having a fast ultra wide. I love shooting with the 24 f/1.4 on the 5D. The closest thing I've seen to that...

Re: Anyone planning to buy the C300?

Yea, it's going to be a little funny with the XRLs coming into the LCD unit. But it'll just require some rig experimentation. I wish they would have included a cheap little internal mic for reference...

Re: Cameras are starting to arrive

Yea, I'm surprised at the release rate. I'm #2 with my dealer and they've received only one unit. : (

Re: CF Card Speed

I'm getting 4 of these. First of all, I only shoot SanDisk. And with redundant recording, 64 and 128gb cards are now an option. With 4x 64GB that's 340 minutes of redundant recording.

SanDisk 64GB...

Re: What kind of lenses are you planing to use

I forgot about the 100mm. I've never used it but I already know it's a must have. Will pick one up this year hopefully.

As far as shooting with IS, I haven't noticed any problems like Evan...

Re: Do you plan to put c300 on a shoulder rig?

Yup, we'll definitely need a hood for outdoors. I'll also do a DIY thing until one of these companies comes out with a better solution.

Re: What kind of lenses are you planing to use

IS is critical. Handheld footage looks great with it. I'm going to sell my 24-70 and use:

17-55mm f/2.8 IS
24-105mm f/4 IS
70-200mm f/2.8 IS MK II

The only L prime I own is the 135. Great...

Re: Do you plan to put c300 on a shoulder rig?

Should have my C300 soon and I will shoot hundreds of hours on my shoulder over the next couple years. My plan is to put the camera on rods centered or just slightly forward of my shoulder.

Then...

Re: Cameras are starting to arrive

I am also very interested to know about the vignetting on the 17-55. That would be a disappointment. Although that's the only disappointment I can think of with this camera so far.

Is anyone else...

They mounted the LCD off camera! It must communicate through the audio interface! Wow I just got way more excited! Mine should be shipping Monday or Tuesday.

Re: The Ferry - new C300 Film

Oh yea for sure. With a 5D it would have been a rainbow of reds and greens. Loving what I know about the camera so far. It has limitations but what camera doesn't?
