Re: Shutter Speed/180˚ rule

Regarding shutter speed, traditionally it should be double your...

Re: What's the longest lens you use?
Dude, just get a 2x extender .. the Canon one. It will turn your 70-200 2.8 into a 140-400 5.6. Much cheaper than a new lens and very compact to pack. No vignetting. It will be hard to keep from...

Re: Shooting video and stills
I think you've answered your own question. You don't feel comfortable with doing both at the same time ... so I wouldn't do it. Personally I think anyone that tries to shoot both on the wedding day...

Re: Do you use digital audio recorders?
We've been using DVR's for years now. Just upgraded to the Olympus DM520's. Great quality and no need to adjust the speed of the audio clips for sync anymore.

Re: Toasts
Corey, with all due respect, it depends on the product you are trying to produce. There is no way you can shoot by yourself and get the footage I get with 2 shooters. If what you get works for you,...

Re: 32Gb or 16Gb SDHC
That was exactly our thinking. A corrupted can can be recovered 99.9% of the time. A lost card cannot. So it made sense to us to have fewer cards in the mix and thus a lower chance of having one...

Re: 1-800 numbers?
I did a lot of research on this a year ago and we went with Kall8. It's been great so far.

Re: 1-800 numbers?
We use an 800 number and it's really not that expensive. We like it because we can literally forward the 800 number to any other phone number within a minute if we want. Also, we do a lot of...

Re: 32Gb or 16Gb SDHC
No problem, Jeff. Just keep in mind 2 points. First, if you DO have an issue with a card or mistakenly format it or whatever ... don't do anything else to it. Get it in the hands of a professional...

Re: 32Gb or 16Gb SDHC
We use 32GB cards for each camera for each section of the day (pre-ceremony, ceremony, reception). Keep in mind that in almost any case you can recover files from a card. I even know of someone who...

Re: Do you use a dolly
Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet ... but why not use a slider? Much more compact, easier to set up, cheaper, less obtrusive ... WINNING! d;-)

Re: Tips and/or Thank-Yous
If the bride gave you a tip then she meant for you to have it. You need to cash it and enjoy it as she intended. d;-)
As for receiving tips, some clients do it and some don't. We've even had...

Re: Logo or no Logo
When we first started up we had polo's with logos. We switched away from that because we didn't like the feel that we were advertising during the bride's wedding. I don't think it's a big deal if...
