Re: Static damaged OST lav mic?

Re: Metabones Speed Booster

My thoughts. I'm not so negative on it as Steven is, for me it seems to work well enough. Here is my post on it:

I'm not the "put my face all over the internet and pontificate reviewer" type of guy, but I'll do my best to give you an idea of it's capabilities.

Re: Metabones Speed Booster

Their site says "All EF lenses," and suggests how to register "3rd party" zooms. So it is supposed to work, how well? I'll see once I get mine. I shoot a lot of outdoor, so i'm interested in how much...

Re: Metabones Speed Booster

Just ordered, This should be great for lightweight travel, take both the regular adapter and this FF one and get all kinds of range with fewer lenses.
Supposedly ships the 25th.

Re: My camera is suffering from a serious skin condition.

Can't tell much from the vimeo compression. Which leads me to believe the one who said it is overstating the problem. Like someone said at the "other" site where you posted this, the exposure wasn't...

Re: My camera is suffering from a serious skin condition.

Haven't noticed this on mine. I prefer how Alister's Flat profile handles blacks and greens. Can you post an example? Does the noise stay the same after color grading?

Re: What filters live on your lenses?

Everything Olof said. Cheap filters can also soften the image significantly.

Re: Rain Cover

Yes the rubbish bag works for emergency applications, I'd prefer a more durable design though. I'm a little surprised PortaBrace doesn't have anything available yet. Thanks

Re: FS700 lens support?

If you're after a support that will resist lateral movement as well as downward pressure you'll need somthing more along these lines:
Zacuto 1/4 20" Lens Support with 2.5" 15mm Z-1/4-LS2

This...

Re: Tascam dr100 eats batteries!

Yes, the thing eats batteries in phantom power mode. I ended up buying a phantom power supply (Denecke PS-1A) so I could leave it off with the tascam. Been working well since.

Re: How to get this look

Can't tell. Most likely it's a backdrop, then just "cheat" the talent for the insert shots. I'd prefer a large room/sound stage. Less claustrophobic that way :)

Re: How to get this look

Agreed. Probably backed off quite a bit though, It doesn't have the wrap around that a close large source would have.

Re: How to get this look

could be, or a large room.
I think that there is a bare fresnel on the right and a fresnel with something like 216 on the left... maybe a softlight/scoop

Re: How to get this look

Strong hard light from the right, softer hard light (make sense?) from the left. simple. adjust for the insert shots as needed to make it feel consistant.

Looks like fresnels to me... hard to say...

Re: Anyone have exp. with Chinese Arri knockoffs?

Rent as needed until you do have enough for at least a little higher quality than the total knock offs on flea-bay. An Arri softbank kit in my area is $50 a day, well worth renting vs buying if you...

Re: Sennheiser Evolution G3 100 Series

They are great for the price. I usually will do a frequency scan in any new environment to make sure I am using a clear channel. You'll want a better mic for them though. Sanken, Countryman, whatever...
