Re: gh4 shooters: how do you use your camera?

For me 1080-60p ETC mode at 100mbps. No camera ever made at any price that can compare for long range wildlife motion.

Hahahaha Gary !!! Pick two is so true

That Voigtlander 10.5mm f/0.95 is...

Re: Can you pre-focus GH4 and have it stay through power on/off?

I've tried it with my 100-300 in manual focus and even after sleep mode it loses focus.

Unfortunately that lens is a bear to do manual focus with in the first place. Definitely a bummer to have...

Re: First m43 lens? Which one?

I would suggest that you get a wide 15mm f/1.7 or Oly 17mm f/1.8

The versatility of this type of lens with the ETC function gives you the option for amazing images from wide on a stabilizer to...

Re: Weird Skin Tones from the GH4?

There's quite a bit of this discussion going on. IMHO it's all due to flattening Cinelike D in camera and then trying to bring it back out with extreme luts.

It's like shooting a cinestyle gamma...

Re: GH4 skintones in full sunlight

This is my preferred set of settings for my new GH4.

cineV, 16-235 luminance, all zeros, master pedestal 0 up to +5 on occasion

here's a sample of some 96 fps conformed to 24p. The last two...

Re: C4K not available

You have to go to the Wrench menu, then system frequency and change it to 24.00hz from 59.94hz. At that point you'll get to film in c4k.

Cheers,
Pete

Re: if I get a GH4, and just one lens...

Yes, I run the 17mm f/1.8 on a jib pole stabilizer I've been developing. The 17mm creates an amazing image when in motion like you get with a steadicam.

The 15mm is less expensive due to being a...

Re: if I get a GH4, and just one lens...

I don't think f/2.8 is fast enough for m43 cams. I have found my go to lens is the Olympus 17mm f/1.8. If I could only have one lens, that or the soon to be released Panasonic 15mm f/1.7 would be...

Re: G6 time lapse question

Another thing to watch out for on the G6 is that you have everything set to manual including white balance. It moves all over on auto.

I've never do anything longer than 20 minutes or so and have...

Re: x920 Artifacting - What on Earth is This?

I have a TM700 and don't get that kind of macro blocking at all. Just a smooth blur on fast moving objects in 1080-60p.

Curious what your exact settings were on the x920 when it did that? Do you...

Re: Panasonic lumix g6, wow

Noa, doesn't the Blackbird have a height adjustment for the gimbal to the sled? If I'm not mistaken, if you simply add a 15mm or so between the sled and the gimbal the lighter G6 should come close...

Re: Panasonic lumix g6, wow

Noa, I'd highly recommend looking into Olympus OM Zuiko vintage lenses. I have a quite a few of them from over the years. They have super high contrast and sharpness with none of the yellow muddy...

Re: G6 resolution difference between 25p and 50p

I did another test today and here's a gif animation of an 800x600 crop from 30p and 60p frames.

There definitely is a bit more sharpness with 30p than 60p. I'm going to have to experiment some...

Re: Panasonic G6 & peaking

Ok, thought maybe I'd lost it, but that is NOT available on my US purchased G6. It only has TV Aspect and HDMI Mode under Output.

Thanks for looking it up.

Cheers,
Pete

Re: Panasonic G6 & peaking

I have a US model G6 and I searched for a switch to PAL from NTSC to get 25p and I couldn't find it either in the menu anywhere or in the manual. Where in the menu do you see the ability to change...

Re: G6 resolution difference between 25p and 50p

I have run the test between 30p and 60p and while there is a tiny difference it is nowhere near the difference you are getting between 25 and 50p on your chart.

I did my test with an Olympus OM...

Re: G6 and Canon FD 50mm 1.4

Hey Bill, you don't need to reverse the settings for "shoot with no lens". Don't know why they even have that function as it doesn't change anything on my G6 when using a m43 lens.

Cheers,
Pete

Hey Bill, I think I may get one of these to solve the issue of flex.

Re: Long Lenses, MFT fitting?

I am shooting 1080-60p mp4, standard profile with all the settings at zero. ETC works in 1080-60p on the G6 but not on the GH3 as far as I know. It's the reason I gave the G6 a try in the first...

Re: Long Lenses, MFT fitting?

I have been away for a few days and just saw this one.

I have been well pleased with the G6 and the 100-300. Almost all those shots were with the 100-300. I have used a Nikkor 600mm AIS ED with...

Re: Panasonic lumix g6, wow

The G6 does not have IBIS in any way. It simply is a quirk in the wording of selecting IS on or off in the camera. You can simply turn on and off IS from the camera without having to use the switch...

Re: Panasonic lumix g6, wow

Not sure I'd like to use a loop on my G6. I have found the focus assist zoom to be incredible to hitting focus. It doesn't work while recording as far as I know which is a shame. I tried to hold...
