Re: Basic aperture question

Distance to the subject makes a huge difference with DOF. As the focal length of the lens gets longer the effect is more apparent.

If the focal pane was 4 or 5 feet the background would have been...

Re: Basic aperture question

Don't be afraid to stop down to f/8 with an 85mm lens if the subject is closer than 5'. The background will still be plenty soft at that setting. Focus is much more manageable between 5.6 and 8.

Re: Basic aperture question

I use a Canon FD 85mm f/1.2L as my go to lens for interviews. I rarely go larger than f/4. Most of the time it is between 5.6 and 8 depending on distance to the subject. The further away I am the...

Re: It's not Creative Suite anymore... news from Adobe

I think that will be a good thing for Avid in the long run. I'm not a fan of the cloud / eternal subscription business model myself.

Re: Introducing the Odyssey7 and 7Q from Convergent Design

I guess the question regarding the 444RGB will come down to whether the "other" codec when available includes the 4444 flavor. You'll need RGB input on the recorder since RGB is the only way the F3...

Re: Introducing the Odyssey7 and 7Q from Convergent Design

That comes out to $12k for my needs (FS700, F3-RGB and Quad Recording).

Ouch.

Much higher than expected.

Re: No video output SDI and HDMI with FS700

Let us know what the final result of the service is. Hopefully it isn't a flaw in the camera design.

Re: No video output SDI and HDMI with FS700

That isn't looking good for a simple fix. I suspect only a trip to the nearest Sony service center is going to get you back in the game.

Re: No video output SDI and HDMI with FS700

As a test can you set the SDI/HDMI output to interlaced?

This will be the most compatible output signal and if you still have no output with this setting then the camera has suffered an internal...

Re: No video output SDI and HDMI with FS700

If you have the FS700 set for 60p and the monitor output set to progressive it will output a signal that isn't compatible with a lot of monitors.

What framerate do you have the FS700 set for?
