Re: New Audio Setup - Any forseeable problems?
Thanks Steve. After a couple times testing, I've been able to verify it's a mono signal with mixed stereo channels. I've got the H4n set up at 120 degrees now instead of 90, which will help get a...

Josh and Katie - Highlights
Recent wedding in Chattanooga, TN. Despite it being almost 100 degrees for the outdoor ceremony/reception, most of it was shaded and we all had a great time! Any feedback is appreciated.

Re: Toasts
I also run two - one on speaker, one on B&G. A lot of times they are in the same place, so I can do a wide shot with all three of them in one shot, and a tighter shot with just the speaker. I will...

Re: New Audio Setup - Any forseeable problems?
Sorry again - I'm embarrassing myself my with limited audio vocabulary! I'll look into getting a multimeter. Here is the cable I have (came with my Senn. G3).
Sennheiser CL-100 1/8"-M Mini to...

Re: New Audio Setup - Any forseeable problems?
I'm clearly a novice with audio, but it's hard for me to tell - the entire cord is wrapped up in one piece (I'm used to seeing each of the three wrapped up separately if that's what you mean).

New Audio Setup - Any forseeable problems?
I just started testing a new setup and wanted to seek feedback (see attachment below). It is an H4n and a Rode NTG-2 both plugged into a JuicedLink CX231, which feeds into a Canon T2i using Magic...

Re: Best All-Purpose Mic for Receptions?
I've yet to really test it much (other than making my wife sing the ABCs a couple times!), but I think I may have a solution that will work well. See picture below. I'm obviously not breaking any new...

Re: Best All-Purpose Mic for Receptions?
Philip, I know there won't be a "one mic to rule them all" for all applications, I was just wondering for receptions, what mic does everyone tend to keep on their cameras predominantly. I've thought...

Re: Best All-Purpose Mic for Receptions?
Thanks for the response Chip. I'm thinking I may just sell my NTG-2 for a Stereo Videomic. Because I already have two Sennheiser G3 wireless mics, two Zoom H4Ns, and I plug a marantz pmd660 into the...

Best All-Purpose Mic for Receptions?
Well, I guess this question could apply to the entire wedding day, since I don't see myself having two mics and switching in and out. I currently use an NTG-2, and am pleased with it for what it is,...

I think I'm ready to start doing that differently. It definitely makes more sense. Thanks to you both.

Re: Pre-Ceremony Coverage
Great advice. Thanks! Do you normally take the B&G out separately (without the photographer) to get your shots? I typically follow the photographer, who sets up special shots (B&G walking outside,...

Pre-Ceremony Coverage
I don't have a second shooter, so I'm constantly looking at the most effective uses of my time. My question to those filming by themselves - during the pre-ceremony coverage, if the couple is doing...

Re: Anyone give Data DVD with HD footage?
I've been giving data DVDs as part of each package for probably two years. It costs me a couple bucks, and with dual layer discs I can fit high quality 1080p mp4 footage on there no problem. I've...

AGC Disable - Magic Lantern vs. Juicedlink?
Right now I've filming with a T2i using Magic Lantern. I have a Juicedlink cx231 (doesn't have AGC disable). Problem is, if you mount the CX231 to the bottom of the camera, it gets in the way of...

I Need a Pocket-Sized Recorder/Mic Recommendation!
I recently got a Zoom H4n, with the intent of using it with an XLR lapel mic to capture the groom/brides vows at weddings. However, because of its size, this will not be feasible to put in the grooms...

Re: Zoom H4N is HUGE!
I already have a G3 but wanted a good backup (can't throw down the cash for another G3 yet), so the answer may be to wait until I can.
I guess when it comes down to it, I'm just looking for a...

Re: Zoom H4N is HUGE!
I'm trying to find a smaller recorder online with an XLR input. Anything out there along these lines? I've already got a Zoom H2, and I've tried using an XLR-to-3.5mm adapter, but haven't been...

Zoom H4N is HUGE!
Just got an H4N. I know I'll love it, but the first thing I've noticed is its size. I am hoping to primarily use it for the groom. Just curious - if you have an H4N, how do you place it for a lapel...
