I would format d: & e: to raid 0 for project media files and rendering. Then you would have the benefit of accessing 2 drives when editing as well as when rendering.

Blu-ray is compatable with HDV (MPEG2) & AVCHD...

Blu-ray is compatable with HDV (MPEG2) & AVCHD (MPEG4). You can use Ulead Movie Factory to author HDV to Blu-ray without any conversion.

It's the Rode Stereo VideoMic, I'm still evaluating it's performance compared to the much smaller and cheaper Sony active interface stereo mic. I'm not sure the Rode mic is worth the extra expence...

Confused About SDE's??

Do the guys producing same day edits ONLY do an SDE or do they also deliver a full length video after the wedding? I can't undestand how you can do an SDE if you're shooting footage for a full video.

We used to use canon HV 20s for unmanned cameras at weddings, but we've changed to Sony SR11s because of their better low light performance. They are a better colour match for our Z1s too.

I add the Vegas Sharpen filter to the clip, set to very light. You must have the sharpen filter BEFORE the Mercalli filter in the filters chain or there are problems when rendering (?!)

It's the Canon WD-H43. It's got a 43mm thread so I'm using a 37-43mm step-up ring so I can use it on the SR11.

I tested the camera as an unmanned camera at a wedding on Saturday and it worked...

Sony SR11 With WA & Rode Mic

Here's a photo of my SR11 with a Canon wide angle lens and Rode stereo mic. I'll be testing this setup this weekend as an unmanned camera at a wedding.

That footage must of been very shakey to have those big borders, have you tried a DV multirig?! ;)

I prefer to use "static borders" in Mercalli rather than "dynamic borders", it's less distracting...

Records to cheap SD cards in AVCHD format max bit rate 24mbs.
CCD sensors so no rolling shutter...

I suggest you only set the preview to Best when you want to capture a still. We always monitor video using "Preview/Auto".
