Re: Delivery via Jump / Flash Drive Problems
Well, if it's possible for you to export as avi, that should be pretty universal. Maybe your TV can't handle mov.
I normally send mine out as h.264 in mp4 container on FAT32 and haven't heard...

Re: Merlin tilt shot - please help???
Hey Peter, I had a quick play with mine, and I had the opposite issue to what you describe. It wasn't a problem that it would swing too far, but just how to smoothly make it tilt down in the first...

Re: After 3 years, is CC working? Worth it?
Well, CC 2014 isn't stable for me. My problems aren't problems that a majority of Adobe's customers have, but I can see by threads on Creative Cow and elsewhere that I'm not the only one. Main issues...

Re: Canon announces XC10 and new codec XF-AVC
Yes, that's very true! Also considerably more compact than a 28-300. Plus, the 1" sensor can become an advantage when you're at the tele end.
Incidentally, one thing people used to interchangeable...

Re: Basic green screen question
Raw aside, I think the 5D possibly wins on internal bit rate, but I don't know for sure (fact check it!). For some reason, I have it in the back of my mind that 5D can go to 35Mb/s, and XA10 looks...

Re: What new product are you most excited about?
Also quite interested in that Solo drone and the Ronin M. And that Redrock Halo product looks fantastic.
Of course, I don't think I'll buy any of these things (I'm happy with my steadicam and my...

Re: x900 and a Glidecam hd1000
Everyone here uses different devices! I guess your choice breaks down like this:
-- Gimbal vs steadicam: gimbal is pricier, often harder to transport, in some ways more fiddly (because you're...

Re: What's a good budget wireless HDMI system?
I'm looking for one of these at the moment. Paralinx Triton is too pricey for me. Paralinx Arrow might be just affordable, but is more than I want to pay. Teradek clip looks doable to me, but I have...

Use of par 16 birdie lights?
These lights seem to be ubiquitous in theatre. You're very likely to find them at the front of stages. Sometimes you see them lighting up architecture. But they've never found a home on film sets. At...

Really interested in John's suggestion of Shiver Moc 2 Waterproof, but going to try Dr Scholl Bounce Loafers, just on the basis that they're cheaper and seem lighter. Will try the Shiver Moc 2 next...

Re: Recommended shoes?
I think my updated criteria list goes:
-- have to look at least a little dressy for weddings; no sneakers
-- black, to blend in
-- has to have grip, or you'll be sliding around the dance floor...

Recommended shoes?
What shoes are you wearing to weddings?
Main things I've found: laceless shoes help, in case you need to remove them fast to stand on beds or chairs; soft soled is far better for steadicam.

Re: Small Jib for Creative Shots.
I've got an Aviator as well. The height isn't awe-inspiring, and it gets used very infrequently; most of the time, I'm more likely to simply lift up my steadicam than bother bringing and setting it...

So, the Varicam 35 is said to have "dual native ISOs" because "there are two analog circuits right after each pixel before the gain amp, one each dedicated to 800 and 5000 ISO": News Shooter |...

re: Canon announces XC10 and new codec XF-AVC
I'm one of the suckers sniffing around the XC10. I'm not happy about the price, not sold on the look, and not crazy about the f/5.6 at the tele end, but I'm still at least a little bit interested.
