If you've recorded in ProRes, I see no reason to transcode to Cineform after the fact. And I believe Avid MC5 will be able to link to and work with the files as recorded using "Link to AMA Files."

When Timur Civan (DP) and I talked about the look we wanted for "A Verse…" we quickly honed in on the dusty, "Deadwood" look. We knew we'd be doing color work in a high-end telecine suite, so we set...

Size advantage? If you've held the Olympus 14-35 f2 in your hands, you'd know that it does, in fact, have a size advantage over DSLR size sensors. It's comparable in focal length to the Canon 24-70...

I had a chance to spend a little time with the Olympus 14-35mm f2 on the AF-100 after we wrapped "A Verse Before Dying."

Using it on the AF-100 (with the Panasonic 4/3 to M4/3 Adapter), it worked...

We had a blast making this short, and I'm glad so many seem to be enjoying it. I hope it also gives people a fairly good idea of what the AF-100 can do. The experience certainly proved to me that the...

I'm assuming you're talking about some Canon cameras other than the 5DII, 7D and 60D here. Because those cameras also shoot in 4:2:0 color space.

Thanks for posting this, Olof! We had a blast filming it, and I can't wait to share the finished film with everyone later this month.

Nexto NVS-2500

I've got the Nexto Video Storage Pro, and it's my field-offloading workhorse. Though I haven't used it for this, you can apparently connect a USB drive TO the unit and offload one card to both the...

I've owned CIneBags products in the past, and will never own them again. The construction was shoddy, the materials they use are nowhere near what I consider "professional" and their customer service...

Nexto

I use the Nexto NVS2500, which may be pricey, but it works perfectly. They do have a number of less expensive offload options as well.

13"

I've got the 13" MBP (2.53Mhz) with FCS loaded.

Color will load and run, but I wouldn't call it snappy. In fact I rarely use it on my laptop.

Where you'll likely notice the biggest lag times...

Canon 100mm f2.8L

+1 on the Canon 100mm f2.8L Macro. It's one of the best and most sharpest lenses I think Canon has ever made. And the new "hybrid" IS system in it means you can even shoot handheld on the T2i and get...

Again…Miller

…and two years ago, I did exactly that: put a Sachtler DV6-SB head on Miller sticks. For my EX1/HPX170/HPX500 shooting, it was a great combination. For my DSLR package, it's overkill, and it's a...

Bob-

I checked out the Miller Compass 15 up close at NAB, for exactly the same setup you describe, and thought it was perfect. Nice action, lighter weight, and built solid for sure.

I haven't had a client call in six months requesting anything but my 5D and 7D. They clearly don't care about what the camera looks like, and neither do I.

I'd look at anything made by ThinkTank Photo. I've owned just about every bag imaginable, and they're all I carry now for my 5D/7D gear.
