Re: Magic Lantern for 60D!

Sounds like there's something seriously wrong with the 32g card. The 64g card won't boot because it didn't have ML on it.
I don't know the minutiae, but I had to repeat the install procedure for...

Re: C.A.L.M act takes effect.

I've had soundies tell me the exact opposite. That the ads are even run through limiters before broadcast to produce a lower dynamic range for more 'punch'.
What does seem to have changed from the...

Re: Max ISO setting 60d/7d

People say shutter speeds below 48/50 are some sort of cardinal sin, but I've shot hip hop dancers at 25 and found it fine. But people say I'm overly forgiving of motion blur.
Still, the way it was...

Re: Anyone have any idea what these are? Please help!!

Cheers for the pic.
Don't worry. I'm one who would never buy an aperture grille CRT back in the day just because the two little suspension wires would bug me no end. So I know what you mean.

Re: Anyone have any idea what these are? Please help!!

As much as discovering the little details of a new camera w.new sensor etc is important and I don't blame anyone...I can't see a damn thing!
Is it really obvious in motion? If not I don't think...

Re: C100 Ninja vs Internal test 1

The difference would mostly come out in some added grading flexibility I'd say. Also if shooting with more camera movement and/or moving subjects.
(under exposed and very red material too)

Re: Dedicated high speed cameras

Thanks

Yeah, that's kind of the picture I'm getting. Just how relatively limited the FS700s high speed is (can only shoot so many seconds at a time etc) gives an indication of how specialised and...

Re: Help on SD to HD Upscaling Technique?

Probably just converting it to some sort of lossless intermediate and then putting it through your NLE to re-scale it with a bit of a sharpen filter (or unsharp mask) is about as good as its going to...

Re: Dedicated high speed cameras

Well indeed. Hence my looking for a one trick pony instead of the FS700.

I don't know about renting most of the time. I know it's standard practice, but mostly it seems like you fork over a lot...

Dedicated high speed cameras

This could be in the wrong spot, I don't know.

I'm looking hard at an FS700, primarily because it has that fun little toy (which it will now oversaturate the world with) Slow Motion.
It is still...

Re: Canon EOS C100

Canon are on a winner with this one by the looks. The body price gets lower every time I look. I am still wondering what damage it'll do to the FS700 price though (hey, I'd get both if I had that...

Re: RED EPIC drops to the floor!

Down here in the basement it still looks pretty high up. But, yeah, big drop there. The Scarlet is starting to get down to its original intent as a pro-sumer competitive camera (starting to).

Re: Canon EOS C100

As much as I want a better codec too, the C100 does seem to fit pretty neatly with everything else in that price range. People grade the heck out of their 5D footage and whatnot, even though it...

Re: Excellent BMC - Canon Mk III comparison

It says quite clearly it was not graded, but only debayered, at the start. Surely if the dynamic range and the resolution are higher grading is not going to make any difference to the things he's...

Re: Long motion trails in AE

Sorry, I meant for the After Effects comp not the actual footage. (I can't recall how streaky that can get off hand anyway. Probably not greatly)

Re: Long motion trails in AE

I'm a bit late, so we'll see if it matters, but what was the shutter angle being used in the original move at the top?

Re: Canon EOS C100

Where do you see this, btw? They look like loupes to me. Or is that what you mean? (doesn't seem particularly significant if it is). Maybe I missed something.

Re: Canon EOS C100

It's a pretty crap video, agreed. But it's mostly run-n gun looking stuff and for that it's ok I guess. I think the 'upgrade' people are most interested in for the money would be less rolling...

Re: Canon EOS C100

What is the sensitivity score between those? I think Bloom did one some time ago, but I don't remember the details. The FS100 and 700 are known to be pretty awesomely sensitive in their own right...

Re: Zacuto Shootout 2012

I swear, if you cut out every time someone said some variation of "It's not the camera, it's the person behind it" or "We're all about story. The picture is just a creative way to get there" and...

Re: slowmoVideo : Open source "Optical Flow" software

Thanks Jon. Yeah, ffmpeg is in there.
It seems the errors are a bit misleading (the hardware driver doesn't work with the windows version at all yet apparently, but the errors still come up).
It...

Re: slowmoVideo : Open source "Optical Flow" software

Had any luck getting this to work?
It runs ok and the UI goes and everything, but it won't actually do any interpolation. You end up with a rendered video ok, but it's just a lot of...

Re: Zucchini Cookies shot with Canon 60D

Is it the oven time lapse shot? Seems like something you can achieve more casually with the GH2 (I don't really know though)

Either way, pretty cool idea for a short actually. Although after a...

Re: Problem installing magic lantern

As well as the warning it's also the slightly scary prospect of adjusting firmware. That's traditionally been a bit risky in computing in general (although it's pretty good these days).
To that...

Re: Rebel T4i autofocus

I was going to say, just because it has continuous auto focus doesn't mean it's any good.
The Nikon D3100s full auto was indisputably crushed by the most basic handi cam. If you desperately want...
