Re: Smart Phones & Weddings

This situation is exactly why God invented squirt guns.

Re: Steadycam for DSLR?

The Blackbird comes with a "kickstand" that lets you just set it down anywhere you wish, and it'll stay put. Very nice.

Re: So what do you drink...

I bottle my own water. I have a well that produces pure, Rocky Mountain spring water from 185' below my property, which is at 8,000' elevation. It is nicely chilled right from the ground and I don't...

Re: 5Dmk3 - Shooting VIDEO simultaneously to CF and SD?

I like being able to just stick the card in my iMac. I need an adapter and USB with the CF card.

Re: 5Dmk3 - Shooting VIDEO simultaneously to CF and SD?

I record video all the time to the SD card in my 5D MK3. It works fine. You just can't record simultaneously to the CF card.

Re: 5D MKIII Freezing?

Even though I use only Hoodman cards (the peace of mind is worth the extra price, to me), I format before each shoot. I don't trust the cards once they've been in my computer. Knock on wood, I've...

Re: Canon 60D - "No card in camera" although card is in camera

Fair enough. I haven't either. But from my life's experience, which is considerable because I'm older than dirt, if they were going to gig someone it would be the first time I tried to get something...

Re: &D can't communicate with battery but works

Are you using Canon batteries, or aftermarket batteries? I had that same issue with a Wasabi battery, which I have since relegated to use only in my field monitor. If you're using Canon batteries and...

Re: Canon 60D - "No card in camera" although card is in camera

You know very well what I meant, Jon, so don't insult my intelligence by admonishing me that ML has nothing to do with a bent pin. ML leaves its fingerprint in the camera. Canon would see that no...

Re: Canon 60D - "No card in camera" although card is in camera

I had the same problem with a 5D MK2. It was a bent pin. Even though it was slightly out of Warranty, Canon fixed it and only charged me shipping.

That's one of the reasons I don't use ML. I don't...

Re: What stabilizer do you use, or would like to be using.

That's very nice stuff, Noa. SInce there doesn't seem to be any DOF issues in the footage, I assume you're using a camcorder and not a DSLR. What I'm really curious about is if you're using a...

Re: Universal release plate?

I use the Manfrotto ones as well. They fit into my Sachtler FSB8 head, and the Manfrotto 701s I have on the jib, the monopod, and the slider. Very convenient.

Re: How do I export a freeze frame as a .jpg?

Go to move the cursor over the frame you want to make into a .jpg, click Share, then Save Current Frame, then tell it where you want it to be saved. Bingo!

Re: Canon 70-200mm F4 L IS too noisy for video?

If you're not using the onboard mic I don't se how it can be a problem. I use wireless lavs and a Rode VideoMicPro and have never had a problem with camera noise on my 5D2, my 5D3, or my 60D, even...

One of our own in combat

Just saw a show on NatGeo that featured one of our own... Charles Mabry. He was interviewed and shown in combat with marines in Afghanistan. I see that he hasn't logged on here for a year. I hope...

Re: Sale or trade: BlackBird Stabilizer

Bumping this back up because I forgot about it for a few months,

Will consider trade for Canon f4L 70-200, or partial trade for 70-200 f2.8.

Re: T3i phantom power

No worries. And I forgot to mention I have used a Y cable to input two separate wireless mics, but I have not used two stereo sources. Two mono inputs work fine.

Re: T3i phantom power

Alex: I cannot speak to the T3i because I only own the 5D MK 3 and the 60D. But I can tell you neither of them have phantom power, and my guess is the T3i doesn't, either.

As far as recording to...

Re: How do I get that "Canon" look?

Those stills seem a little desaturated to me. Maybe if you bump up the saturation a bit?

Re: HD and convert or 640x480 for 48 Hour Film Project

Personally, I'd shoot it in HD and down-convert in Compressor. The assignment calls for 720x480, so I'd deliver what they're asking for so as not to be disqualified.
