Its too late now, but I believe the EyeTV EZ model lets you play games (no lag). The Eye TV 200 is a hardware based encoder (great for slower CPU's or if you want to multitask, bad for realtime)...

I can now confirm that you can sync the timecode of an A1U with a Z1U by using the Timecode Reset command from the Z1U's remote. This alone is worth the upgrade prices!

It's also wise to shoot 10 seconds or so at the end of the tape (it doesnt matter what) just to lay down timecode. This will help you capture important scenes at the end of a tape.
